MW3 players sick of Riot Shields call for OG counter to return

Going against a Riot Shield user in MW3 is not an easy task, so players have come up with more ways the devs can introduce counters to the melee shield.

Riot Shields have continued to be a pesty playstyle in MW3, as the melee weapon seems to frustrate and annoy the playerbase every year it is included in a Call of Duty release’s arsenal.

While there are a couple of ways to counter Riot Shields in MW3, the playstyle is still extremely effective, especially when you use the right equipment and Perks.

The Riot Shield is so effective at frustrating players that some have got together to share ideas on new counters that the devs can implement into MW3, some of which the community seems to like the sound of.

A Reddit user on the MW3 subreddit put a post up titled, “Armour piercing rounds should go through riot shields.” The OP explained that this would “at least” give players an option to counter Riot Shield users in MW3.

Many seem to agree that the Riot Shield needs more counters, and although they may not agree with the armor-piercing rounds idea, others have provided their solutions.

In the comments, one user suggested that there should be “penetration damage” when shooting at a Riot Shield user in MW3. The idea is that players can shoot the Riot Shield to do penetration damage to the user. They explain that this wouldn’t kill the Riot Shield user easily, but it would be a better experience than shooting “adamantium armor.”

“I think the Riot Shield should have “stamina,” like hitting it enough times or an explosive would cause the shield user to stagger, or maybe have a similar effect as a stun grenade,” commented one player, offering another counter idea for Riot Shiels.

One user also suggested that the Riot Shield should “just be able to break after getting shot with an LMG 700 times.” This then sparked comments regarding MW3 2011’s Riot Shield, which would break and leave a gap for players to shoot through if enough damage was done: “Think it was og mw3, the visor broke and you could shoot through.”

With Season 2 on the horizon for MW3, who knows what kind of changes the devs will introduce, perhaps players will have to wait for CoD 2024 to see some Riot Shield reworks.
