Modern Warfare 3 is just on the horizon, and players are discussing the Riot Shield as they feel it needs to be reworked or removed.

With Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone entering its final season ahead of Modern Warfare 3, players are eager to discuss multiplayer and share feedback with the community in hopes of change.

Call of Duty’s multiplayer is an extremely popular mode that hasn’t been as loved as it has in the past, mostly due to players feeling widely ignored.

That said, MW3 developers, Sledgehammer Games, have made a strong impression so far, offering players exactly what they wanted, with red dots on the minimap returning and a great increase to the game’s movement speed.

However, ahead of the November 10 launch date, players are continuing to share their opinions on certain aspects of MW3’s multiplayer, and this time, the community has chosen Riot Shields as the topic of discussion.

MW3 fans feel Riot Shield needs to be removed or reworked

Over on Reddit, user RuggedTheDragon shared their opinion on MW3 Riot Shields, essentially saying that they need to be removed from custom classes or heavily reworked.

They feel that the Riot Shield is not used as it is intended to be, as players often use it to throw Equipment like Throwing Knives, switch to close-range weapons quickly to secure kills, and also place it on their back to “avoid deaths from behind.”

All in all, they claim that Riot Shields ruin “the flow of combat with an added layer of cheese.” They explain further that Treyarch are praised for their game design “and most of their multiplayers don’t even have the shield available as a primary or secondary.”

The OP also suggested a rework for the Riot Shield, as they said, “I would just have it as a tactical equipment and you have to either hold or toggle the button to activate it. Equipment cannot be used while it is active and it retracts when not in use.”

Others in the comments seem to agree with a rework, as one comment read, “Just make it ap piercable or make it have a health bar,” while another suggested, “They should honestly just make it not work with overkill, if you want a shield on your back then you have to use a pistol.”

One user even suggested making the Riot Shield a “Field Upgrade,” so that it is used more like the “deployable shield.”

While some are open to the idea of a rework for the Riot Shields, others just don’t want to see it in the game, “they shouldn’t be in the game at all.” Some even praise Treyarch for not including the Riot Shield in Black Ops Cold War, “Cold War was so golden with no riot shield. Another Treyarch W.”

We’ll have to wait and see if Sledgehammer decide to make any Riot Shield changes come release, as there’s a chance many aspects of the game will change through its lifespan. For now, check out how to play MW3’s campaign early access.
