Warzone 2 matches are all about picking off the competition to become the last player standing and claim the victory. However, a strange bug in Season 5 is causing players to finish second, despite there being no more enemies left to fight.

Warzone 2 Season 5 is in full swing and fans are getting to grips with the major meta changes after the update brought a host of buffs and nerfs, as well as brand-new weapons like the FR Avancer and Carrack .300 Sniper Rifle.

But while many are enjoying the new additions, Season 5 has been plagued by a handful of bugs that have disrupted matches for some players. These have ranged from minor inconveniences to game-changing issues like the one-shot melee bug.

Now, Warzone 2 fans have discovered another bizarre glitch that robs the final player of victory at the end of the match.

Reddit user ‘Happy-Twist-5342’ discovered the issues, as they shared a clip that showed them dying to the gas at the end of a match as the circle became too small to avoid. However, at the top of the screen, it showed that they were the only Operator left alive, meaning the match should have ended already.

But instead of the player boarding the plane and enjoying the victory, they were left to run around the empty map, desperately searching for any remaining enemies that simply weren’t there.

Other Warzone 2 players responded to help figure out what exactly happened. Some thought that another Operator may have been hiding in the gas using Stims and Self-Revive Kits to stay alive. However, this would show on the remaining player count.

One fan pointed out that “this can happen when someone gets stuck in the gulag,” before another agreed: “That guy prob won the match. Lmao.”

An occasional Gulag glitch can leave players stuck there either after winning the head-to-head, or if there are no more fallen Operators to fight. Based on the evidence, fans seemed to think that has led to the players in the Gulag being handed the win once the game ended.

Of course, this is only speculation, and there’s no telling if this was an accident or a deliberate exploit to receive an easy win. Either way, Warzone 2 players will be hoping that it doesn’t become a widespread problem and a fix is released soon.

Warzone 2 Season 5 Reloaded is the next major update, so perhaps the issue will be addressed there, alongside the release of the new Lara Croft bundle.
