Zombies dev responds to complaints about Cold War and Vanguard modes
A Treyarch developer behind Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode has responded to the community’s complaints about the mode lacking substance.
Call of Duty developers Treyarch are very well known for bringing the extremely popular Zombies mode to life with 2008’s World at War.
Despite being extremely successful and creating a community of dedicated players, the mode hasn’t been as popular in recent years, with the new map being called “boring” by players.
With that being said, one of the devs behind Black Ops Cold War‘s Zombies mode has responded to player concerns regarding the mode’s lack of “soul.”
The last two Call of Duty games have brought the Zombies mode back to Call of Duty, with both Vanguard and Cold War’s Zombies modes being worked on by Treyarch.
Despite their great reputation and Black Ops 4 Zombies’ great reception, players have not been as impressed with the Cold War and Vanguard renditions.
CodeNamePizza tweeted: “Damn I miss Call of Duty: Zombies feeling like it has passion put into it.” MrRoflWaffles seemed to also agree with the statement, replying saying “it really is missing its soul rn imo.”
Their opinions even warranted the response of a Treyarch Developer who worked on Black Ops Cold War Zombies. The dev is Treyarch’s Lead Game Designer Kevin Drew, who’s in charge of Zombies systems and Outbreak for Black Ops Cold War.

In Kevin’s response, he states that “we [Treyarch] still love making zombies. I hope we can hit on some of the things you think Cold War lacked in the next game.”
Not only does this reassure fans that Zombies will be returning, but it also suggests that the mode may be returning to its roots.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens with Zombies for the future, but for now, check out how to get the Decimator Wonder Weapon in Vanguard Zombies.
