Baldur’s Gate 3 fans try to explain why Larian Studios’ RPG has a low completion rate, even after breaking the record of concurrent players on all platforms.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is an immense title where players need to play up to 60 hours to finish the main quest without completing key sidequests that can change the final outcome. While Larian Studios’ RPG has been one of the most popular titles in 2023, fans were surprised to find out that only a small number of players completed the game.

A Reddit user named ‘Dotaspasm’ shared the discovery in the Baldur’s Gate 3 community, and asked other fans how was it possible that only 19% of all players got the game’s final achievement.

Most users were quick to point out that long RPGs aren’t completed by all of their players, since not everyone can complete a lengthy game in only a few months.

“I absolutely loved the game, but my one play-through took 117 hours! For a large chunk of the population, finding that amount of time for a single game is almost impossible!,” commented user ‘Super-Wolverine-5606.’

Some Baldur’s Gate 3 players blamed the structure of Act 3, where players often admit to feeling overwhelmed by the amount of side quests that are hidden in Baldur’s Gate city area. Redditor ‘Dovahbear’ listed up to 17 tasks that are unlocked at the beginning of this act, and highlighted that the map’s poor optimization made exploration more difficult.

“I’ll be honest, Act 3 kinda took the wind out of my sails. Just the fact that so many questlines take place at the same time is a bit overwhelming,” commented user ‘daddykaan.’

Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t the only game that suffers from a small rate of players who were able to complete it. As players point out, only 12% of Skyrim SE players have actually obtained the achievement for finishing the game, sharing the same percentage of players who have completed Pathfinder: WOTR last quests.

And that’s the Baldur’s Gate 3 community reaction to the small percentage of players that actually finished the game so far.
