The Baldur’s Gate 3 community has decided which character has become the least favorite character for traveling the world of Faerun. Here’s who Baldur’s Gate 3 fans think Larian Studios’ should give a tweak.

Baldur’s Gate 3 companions seem to have charmed every player that tries their luck on Faerun. Thanks to their complex backstories and fun interactions, fans are usually set on romancing at least one of them before their adventure is over. But surprisingly, there’s one once-acclaimed character that players started to find “useless and annoying.”

Keep in mind that the Baldur’s Gate 3 community has discussed the actions of this character focusing on Act 2, so be aware of spoilers as you keep reading.

In a Reddit post titled “Do people actually dislike Halsin that much?,” players voiced a pretty much unanimous opinion against the famous Bear-Druid companion. Even if Halsin was once so popular that fans got Larian Studios to add him as a permanent companion, the hype for him seems to have died out.

“His story with the shadow curse was interesting, after that, he doesn’t feel very connected with what’s going on. And of course, he joins after the shadow curse stuff has concluded,” explained Reddit user ‘spinz.’

Others also agreed that Halsin joins the camp way too early during Act 1, and then his story concludes too fast. While it’s true that the Druid also becomes available as a playable character in the middle of Act 2, some players stated that they loved simply hanging out with him.

“He and Jaheira feel a lot more mature than the rest of the party. Sometimes when I don’t want to feel like I’m babysitting my younger friends’ feelings so I bring them along, and we wander the streets of the Gate looking for relaxing trouble,” said Reddit user ‘lulufan87.’

Fans explained that the biggest issue that they had against Halsin was that his romance interactions became available too late in the game and that his advances were also “poorly implemented.” “The way they wrote his dialogue post Act 2 seems to make romance his default priority. The writers also seem to assume every player will be open to his advances,” commented Redditor ‘TarusR.’

While it’s true that Halsin quickly became viral-famous when Larian Studios showcased a romantic scene with him shapeshifted into a bear, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans feel that they turned him into “a marketing bait which made him a meme character from then on.”

“I don’t dislike him per se, but he kind of just comes across as shallow fan service to me in a way that makes him feel unnatural and not like an immersive member of the team. He’s not very fleshed out, even his shadow curse plotline seemed more interesting in early access from what I’ve seen online,” insisted Redditor Clever__name69.

And that’s everything on why Baldur’s Gate 3 fans think Halsin is the worst companion in Faerun. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ latest RPG, you can check who players think is the most evil demon in Baldur’s Gate 3 or why fans are baffled by some companions “romance logic.”
