One of the most heartbreaking moments for many Baldur’s Gate 3 players is when they find they are forced to kill Alfira when playing as The Dark Urge. This doesn’t have to be the case, though, and here is how you can save her.

Alfira is one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s most beloved characters, which makes it even worse when players who start another playthrough as The Dark Urge find that you will murder her with no real say in the matter.

There is a way to work around this, though, and it involves knocking her out before a certain cutscene triggers. Here is everything you need to know about saving Alfria as The Dark Urge.

Saving Alfira as The Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 players who want to save Alfira as The Dark Urge need to knock her out while she is in The Druid’s Grove

If you knock Alfira out, Quil Grootslang will appear in her place.

Baldur’s Gate 3 lets you toggle non-lethal damage, and this is the most surefire way to make sure Alfria survives.

Before you leave to move on to Act 2, Alfira will appear in your camp and beg you to come with. If you turn her away, the Butler will kill her, and if you approve of her joining the party, you will be forced to kill her yourself.

You need to make sure you find her in Emerald Grove and knock her out before you head for a long rest so she does not show up in camp, because otherwise you will have lost your chance to save her. If you do this, Quil Grootslang will appear in your camp in her place.

The gruesome cutscene where you murder the Bard will still play out, but with Quil instead. So, you will still get the Deathstalker Mantle as a prize for slaying either one.

Who is Alfira in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Alfira is a Tiefling Bard in Baldur’s Gate 3 who you meet for the first time in Emerald Grove.

When you first enter the Grove, you can find her playing on her lute just east of the Sacred Pool, up on a hill. The endearing moment between your character and Alfria is often what has caused players to fall in love with her.

Why does The Dark Urge kill Alfira in BG3?

The Dark Urge kills Alfira in Baldur’s Gate 3 as one of the consequences of being unable to resist the urge.

Alfira’s fate is sealed if she shows up in your camp.

The Urge is the murderous parts of Durge that players must either decide to resist or give in to, depending on the kind of playthrough they are looking for.

While most of these choices are up to the player, killing Alfira is one of the urges that cannot be resisted. As a result, if she ever shows up in your camp, her fate is sealed whether you like it or not.
