When Baldur’s Gate 3 players choose to play as The Dark Urge in a new playthrough, they may find it a little bit daunting to change their class. However, one player has pointed out that this shouldn’t be an issue.

The Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3 is quite a unique character for one main reason; they have a canon backstory and pre-made character you can choose in the character customization menu, but you are still able to change them up as you desire.

You can choose a different race, class, and gender for The Dark Urge (Durge). However, since pre-made characters are usually made that way for a reason, players can sometimes be hesitant to make any changes like these when they start a Durge playthrough.

One player explained that this shouldn’t be an issue in your decisions, especially when it comes to choosing a different class.

“You start at level one, so act like it. Whoever you were before Nautiloid doesn’t matter, you don’t remember anything,” ‘s_nicole’ posted on Reddit. “Whatever class you picked — you started this journey once the game started, not before, you don’t have to create any backstory why you *were* a paladin, simply roleplay becoming one from scratch.”

The OP then went on to give a realistic backstory for why Durge could be from any of the Classes outside of a Sorcerer so your choice can make sense. In the comments, players agreed with the sentiment.

“The ultimate reason is that it’s a customizable character so it’s on the player to create a story to explain it,” one player explained.

Ultimately, fans believed that this is how Baldur’s Gate 3 is meant to be played, and if you weren’t meant to customize Durge then the game wouldn’t let you. The essence of the game for players lies behind playing your chosen character in the way you want to.

“My Durge is a fighter. Why you ask? Cause to enjoy murdering someone it’s good to have multiple ways to hurt someone in a single turn,” another player shared.

Overall, players agreed that you shouldn’t be scared to customize your Durge playthrough exactly how you’d like, as it’s more likely to enhance your experience rather than break the game’s story.
