Best weapons in Apex Legends Ranked Season 9: Legacy
Finding and picking up the best weapons in Apex Legends Ranked Leagues, especially in the current Season 9 meta, plays an ever-important role in taking you and your team to the top.
Apex Legends’ Ranked Leagues can prove a tough grind and change of pace compared to the standard mode, especially for newcomers. Even if you’re an experienced player grinding the higher ranks, Apex can always offer you a challenge, even for those competing in the ALGS Championship.
As with other battle royales, it is also important in Apex to abide by the meta and use the weapons that are being used by the best, especially in Ranked.
Best Apex Legends Ranked Weapons
The R-301 is easily the most versatile and reliable weapon in the game. If you’re someone who wants a gun that can perform at any range, the R-301 is for you.
This weapon is perfect for Ranked, as it can be used in various ways depending on what your secondary weapon is. Say you have a longer-ranged sniper, the R-301 is great at short to mid-range fights. What about if you’re running a shotgun? The R-301 can also be deadly at range, especially with a 3x scope and the Anvil Receiver hop-up.
The only downside the R-301 has is if you don’t have an extended light magazine to go with it, as the fire rate and base mag size of 18 bullets will leave you reloading constantly. Even still, it is worth holding onto until you finally find that extended magazine, as once you have it decked out, it is easily the best weapon in Apex Legends Ranked.
Despite the recent nerf, the Spitfire is among the best weapons in Apex Legends Ranked, mostly due to its huge magazine size. With a base magazine size of 35 bullets, the spitfire will shoot for days even without an extended magazine.
As well as its magazine size, the Spitfire is also a great tool for suppression at longer ranges. With easy to control recoil and the ability to add the longer-ranged scopes, such as the 3x, the Spitfire can output massive amounts of damage from longer ranges.
Although it isn’t the best at close range, and you will get caught out by shotguns and SMGs like the Volt during close combat, the Spitfire can perform mid-range and handles very well when hip-fired. Combo this weapon with a more close-ranged shotgun like the Eva-8, and you’ll find success.
The G7 has been among the best weapons in Apex Legends since its release. With powerful damage output from longer ranges and, most importantly, mid-range, the G7 has the potential to rival any gun no matter what position you’re in.
Although the G7 is a semi-automatic weapon, the fire rate is surprisingly fast, especially considering how much damage it can do. Headshots are important with this weapon, as compared to the body, the G7 practically doubles its damage when you aim for the head.
The G7 is also very powerful without the best of attachments and still reasonably easy to handle without a stock or barrel stabilizer. This makes for a great combo with the R-301 covering all ranges and situations, as you’ll only have to focus on getting a good scope for the G7 to perform.
The Sentinel has truly taken its spot as the best sniper in Apex Legends this season, not only due to the Triple Take’s disappearance into Care Packages but also because of the new Deadeye’s Tempo Hop-Up.
The Sentinel’s value comes in its ability to be lethal from longer ranges. Even when you don’t have Deadeye’s Tempo or the shield cell charge, the Sentinel hits hard and can crack shields easily with a headshot.
The Sentinel becomes even more deadly when charged up, hitting huge damage on both the body and head. This is a weapon that can do the damage needed to start a push and keep players from pressuring you and the team.
Lastly, we have the Volt, an energy-type SMG that packs a punch. Since its introduction in Season 6, the Volt has been a dominant close-ranged weapon that can perform at mid ranges, similarly to the R-99.
The Volt is on this list over the R-99 because the R-99 has taken some nerfs in the last few patches, allowing the Volt to rise to the top. It does a very similar job to the R-99, destroying enemies at close range if you can stay on target.
This difference in damage and the clear iron sights is exactly why the Volt is the best close-range SMG option in the game. Pair this weapon with the Triple Take, G7, or Spitfire to cover those shorter ranged engagements.
These weapons should help you on your Ranked journey in Apex Legends. Of course, this is a guide, and if your favorite weapon isn’t included, don’t let it stop you from using it. Also, remember, this guide is for the battle royale, not the 3v3 mode. Check out our best weapons to use in Arenas if you’re more interested in that mode.
