Apex Legends has introduced players to a new character in Season 17 known as Ballistic, so we’re breaking down everything you need to know about the new Legend, including his abilities.

Apex Legends players missed out on a new Legend for the Season 16 update, as the devs decided to bring a variety of changes such as the Legend Class remaster and new Nemesis Burst AR instead.

Usually, a new Legend is seen every season, so it has been slightly odd not to have anyone new in Season 16. The devs have brought back the regular schedule for Season 17, as Ballistic has arrived as the new Legend for the season, after being accidentally revealed by the devs.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new Apex Legends Season 17 Legend, Ballistic, including his full kit and official abilities.

Who is Ballistic in Apex Legends?

Ballistic is the brand-new Legend for Apex Legends Season 17 update, which landed on May 9, 2023.

The “Encore” Stories from the Outlands video provided players with a decent background to the character, showing how Ballistic, real name August Brinkman, fell from stardom after being Thunderdome Champion.

His son managed to get a place in the Apex Games, but to protect him, August Brinkman, now a 63 year-old-man, decided to come out of hiding and join himself.

Apex Legends Ballistic abilities

Here are all of the official abilities for Apex Legends’ Ballistic:

  • Class: Assault
  • Passive – Sling: Ballistic is able to hold three weapons, but the third cannot hold attachments.
  • Tactical – The Whistler:
    • Shoots a projectile that debuffs the enemy. Enemies’ guns will start to heat up as they shoot, and overheating will cause a reaction and deal damage. Holding the Tactical will allow it to lock on.
  • Ultimate – The Tempest:
    • When activated, nearby teammates get faster reloads, move speed, and infinite ammo. Ballistic’s sling weapon will also be equipped and upgraded to gold.

Ballistic abilities look pretty strong, but we’ll have to wait and see how much of an impact he will make when players get more time with the Apex Legends Season 17 update.
