Fortntie Chapter 4 Season 1 introduces Oathbound chests full of extremely valuable loot. Here’s where to find Oathbound chests in Fortnite and what rewards are on offer once you track one down.

Following the dramatic Fracture live event, Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is finally underway. The new era of Epic’s battle royale shook up the formula once again, introducing a new Reality Augments perk system as well as a shiny new engine.

It also completely overhauled the map with multiple new areas to explore and scattered Oathbound chests across it for players to find.

If you’re wondering where to find Oathbound chests and the useful items inside, we’ve got you covered.

What are Oathbound chests in Fortnite?

Oathbound chests are much rarer versions of standard chests that contain more valuable loot. Weapons given out by these kinds of chests will always be in the rare (blue) tier or higher.

They also have a much better chance of dropping one of the new items added in Chapter 4, such as the Shockwave Hammer.

Finding an Oathbound chest can completely change your fortunes in a Fortnite match, filling your inventory with powerful weapons and heals as you look to claim the Victory Royale.

Fortnite Chapter 4 medieval map

Oathbound chests can be found anywhere in the medieval section of the map, located on the western side of the island. You’ll know if you’ve wandered into the right area if the trees have orange leaves and the buildings all look like old-fashioned houses or castles.

To increase the odds of finding an Oathbound chest, we recommend landing at one of the four major POIs in the area; The Citadel, Breakwater Bay, Shattered Slabs, or Anvil Square.

Any regular chest spawn could be an Oathbound chest, so be sure to search each area thoroughly. The rare chests are easy to spot thanks to their larger size and distinct white color.

Spawns will change with each match, so, sadly, you won’t be able to land in the same spot each time and guarantee that an Oathbound chest will be there.

Since these chests contain such valuable loot, and are tied to weekly challenges, don’t be surprised if you have to fend off a number of other players to secure one.
