Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 players have felt that Flash Grenades have been too bright for some time. Luckily the devs brought a new Inverted Flash setting that will diminish brightness with Dark Flash Grenades in Season 2 Reloaded.

Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Reloaded is finally here and there is plenty of exciting new content for players to get stuck into. The mid-season update brings a brand-new 6v6 multiplayer map, as well as the new Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle.

It also comes with a host of quality-of-life changes that aim to fix some of the small but frustrating issues that players have had with both games since launch.

One of these is a long-requested accessibility feature that seems to be taken from FPS rival Battlefield 2042, which aims to make Flashbangs less hurtful to the eyes.

As revealed by Warzone dev team Beenox, players now have the option to enable an “Inverted Flash Grenade” setting — essentially a dark mode that applies purely to Flash Grenades.

If you want to make the switch to Dark Flash Grenades in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, we’ve got a step-by-step guide below.

How to enable Dark Flash Grenades in Warzone 2 & Modern Warfare 2

  1. Head into the main menu of Warzone 2 & Modern Warfare 2.
  2. Select the options menu in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Click ‘Settings.’
  4. Scroll down and select ‘Interface.’
  5. Set the ‘Inverted Flash’ Setting to On.

With this setting, being hit by the Tactical Equipment will turn players’ screens black instead of bright white. This will still inflict the same visibility penalty without the risk of the bright screen putting stress on your eyes.

Players throwing the equipment will see no difference regardless of which setting is enabled, so Flash Grenades will be just as useful from the enemy’s point of view.

With this new accessibility feature enabled, you’ll be able to enjoy Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 without the fear of your screen suddenly turning white when hit by a Flashbang. This should make playing both games a little easier on the eyes, without giving players an advantage.
