Warzone 2 devs confirm customizable Perks will return in Season 2
Warzone 2 developer Infinity Ward have confirmed that the Season 2 update will allow players to customize their own Perk Packages, rather than choosing from premade options.
After a promising start, the community’s attitude towards Warzone 2 has become more negative in recent weeks, as players grow frustrated with some of the sequel’s gameplay decisions.
This led to the Warzone 2 Season 2 update being pushed back by two weeks to allow developer Infinity Ward extra time to work on a number of quality-of-life improvements. Since then, the team have announced a number of improvements, such as the return of 1v1 Gulags and an overhaul to the looting system.
Now, it’s been confirmed that players will be able to choose their own Perks in Warzone 2 Season 2 for the very first time since the game launched.
Customizable Perks to return in Warzone 2 Season 2
Warzone 2’s Perk Package screen.In a January 25 blog post, the developers revealed that Warzone 2 Season 2 will go back on the decision to remove customizable Perks.
“Season 02 will introduce customizable Perk Packages! This feature will launch with a slightly reduced pool of available Perks, which we may slowly reintroduce over time. We want to navigate this particular feature as carefully as possible, ensuring that all available Perks provide ample utility and remain viable/balanced options.”
It’s important to note that the feature will launch with a reduced pool of Perks to pick from. It’s likely that the devs will use feedback to alter the available selection of Perks following the update.
When the battle royale sequel launched in 2022, many fans were surprised to see that they couldn’t handpick the Perks they wanted in their loadouts as they could in the original. Instead, they were asked to choose between a number of preset Perk Packages that couldn’t be altered.
Once the Season 2 update goes live on February 15, players will be able to select from a less restricted combination of Perks, just as they can in Modern Warfare 2.
This will allow fans to finely tune their loadout even more, by choosing the four Perks that better suit their style of play.
This major change comes alongside significant loadout changes in Season 2, as well as the news that more cash will be lootable around the Al Mazrah map.
Only time will tell if all of the adjustments pay off once the update rolls out, but they certainly seem to be a step in the right direction when it comes to answering the communities concern about Warzone 2.
