DMZ instantly became a fan-favorite mode alongside Warzone 2, and the devs will bring new content with the Season 2 update.

Warzone 2’s DMZ mode was a first for Call of Duty, taking elements of extraction-based games like Escape from Tarkov and giving players the freedom to complete missions, battle enemies, and extract high-tier loot from Al Mazrah.

The devs seem keen on supporting the mode, bringing the Building 21 area with the Season 1 Reloaded update, and even hosting a DMZ tournament. Players can expect even more content with February 15’s Season 2 update, which the devs have started to tease.

In a January 21 tweet, Infinity Ward confirmed that DMZ will receive new content throughout Season 2. “New missions, new Exclusion Zone and difficulty tuning,” tweeted the devs. “Prepare for DMZ’s Season 02 update with our deep-dive blog next week.”

New missions will give players new goals and rewards to earn, and we expect the new Exclusion Zone, which is the area you drop into, to be the small Resurgence map that also arrives with the Season 2 update.

Whether players need to find an access key similar to Building 21 remains to be seen, but DMZ players will have a new area to explore at the very least.

Difficulty tuning has also been something players have been calling for. As DMZ is a Trios-only mode, players find loading in as a Solo to be too punishing because of the sheer number of bots and their laser beam accuracy, but we’ll need to wait and see what tuning updates they have planned.

Stay tuned for Infinity Ward’s deep dive blog next week and if you haven’t explored Building 21 yet, be sure to check out how to find the Red and Blue Access cards, as well as all of the area’s rewards.
