Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 devs announce Season 2 delay, Resurgence map & Ranked Play
The Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 devs have finally revealed an official start date for Season 2. They announced that players could expect a Resurgence map and Ranked Play to arrive in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 respectively.
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 was originally expected to arrive on February 1. While the devs never confirmed the date, the Season 1 Battle Pass was set to end on February 1, signaling the start of Season 2.
Data mined information revealed that the Season 2 update for Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 might arrive later than anticipated. Infinity Ward has since confirmed the official start date for the Season 2 update.
Devs confirm Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Season 2 start date
The devs announced that Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 will officially begin on February 15. The announcement also featured major reveals for upcoming Season 2 content that could make the slight delay worth the wait.
Small map & QoL changes coming to Warzone 2 Season 2
Fans of the franchise will be happy to hear that changes to “the gulag, looting and loadouts,” are on the way. This has been a huge demand from players who believe the games are not in an optimal state, especially Warzone 2 fans.
However, the biggest Warzone 2 news came by way of official confirmation of a small map for Warzone 2 Season 2. The devs confirmed the “return of Resurgence,” which should make Warzone 2 fans very happy.
Adding a small Warzone 2 map to the rotation has been at the top of players’ wishlists since the removal of Rebirth Island in the original Warzone experience. It will be interesting to examine the design of the new map after the success of Rebirth Island. We’ll provide updates once new information comes to light.
With quality of life changes and a small map coming to Warzone 2, Season 2 could be the game’s most intriguing period yet.
Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play to debut in Season 2
Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer fans also have a lot to look forward to in Season 2 as a proper Ranked Play mode will arrive. We knew that Ranked Play was coming in 2023, but the devs have confirmed a Season 2 launch the same day the update goes live.
Fans of competitive Call of Duty can look forward to trading in CDL Moshpit for Modern Warfare 2’s official Ranked Play mode. Modern Warfare 2 players can also look forward to new multiplayer maps, modes, and weapons in Season 2.
Amidst growing unrest from the player base, many will be hoping that Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will mark a new chapter for the games.
