Starfield is full of hidden details and exploits that players can make use of to accomplish certain feats in the game. Yet another exploit comes forward as a player on Reddit has shared that you can steal clothes from NPCs in the game, a feature that was famous in Skyrim.

Starfield has been one of the major subjects of discussion in the gaming community for a while now after its big release on September 6. With its beautiful planets and the enormous scope of its exploration, the title is already one of the most-played RPGs by Bethesda.

One famous Skyrim mechanic that was thought to be dead in Starfield was the feature that enabled the players to take NPCs’ clothes, from either their dead bodies or by using the pickpocket skill while they were alive. However, a Starfield player named ‘Zorping’ on Reddit has found a solution for this and shared his knowledge.

According to Zorping, you can apparently steal clothes from any NPCs’ dead bodies but you will have to be “murderous” to accomplish it.

To do this trick, follow these steps:

You will have to order an NPC to Inspect and loot a dead body, using your Manipulate skill from the skill tree. You can unlock this skill for free if you do the Ryujin Industries questline in Starfield.

The OP mentions in this post that “if you want to wear the clothes yourself, you can’t pickpocket the person you used to Manipulate for some reason.” So you will have to murder them too, and then loot their bodies, you should be able to get everything they have looted from the dead body.

This includes the clothes the dead person was wearing and should now be in their undergarments. Many Starfield players have found this useful and amusing as a nostalgic Skyrim mechanic is back in the game.

How to steal clothes from NPCs in Starfield

To summarize, follow these steps to steal clothes from NPCs in Starfield:

  1. Use the Manipulate skill to get an NPC to loot a dead body.
  2. Kill the NPC you manipulated.
  3. Loot their body to get everything in their inventory.
