Starfield gives players an entire galaxy to explore, but not every planet you see in the sky can be landed on. This came as a disappointment to some fans, but the community quickly shut down one player who complained that Starfield’s gas giants couldn’t be explored.

As we approach Starfield’s early access period, a number of leaks have begun to emerge about Bethesda’s ambitious sci-fi RPG. A handful of gameplay clips have surfaced online, as well as the contents of the day one patch.

Exploration has been a major part of Starfield’s marketing, as the galaxy features over 1,000 planets for players to discover, but some were disappointed to learn that invisible walls could limit how much of a new world can be accessed.

This sparked plenty of debate about whether or not Starfield will offer the freedom that fans had hoped for, but one hater was quickly shut down when they tried to complain that gas planets can’t be explored.

Following the Starfield leaks, YouTuber ‘KingThrash’ shared images of gas giants, planets that looked similar to Saturn in real life. “You cannot go to these ‘planets’ because exploration was a lie,” they said. “Jesus it gets so worse.”

Other Starfield players were quick to roast the OP. “But like, where you gonna walk on a GAS GIANT!? You can’t walk on clouds,” said one reply, with another adding: “It’s a gas giant, you physically cannot walk on gas.”

However, they doubled down on their post, arguing that landing on a planet made of gas is no more unrealistic than other features in Starfield.

“Why not? It’s a video game….with alien creatures and jetpack and spaceships shaped like robots,” they responded. “Why is the line drawn on gas giant exploration?”

The post also made its way to Reddit, where even more fans had their say on Starfield’s exploration and KingThrash’s take.

“Some gamers want games with zero limitations. They want an actual universe. All hand crafted. With seamless transitions, no loading times, and complete freedom,” argued one player. “If you want that… go outside!”

With Starfield early access due to begin on September 1 and the worldwide launch to follow on September 5, it won’t be long before players finally get their hands on the game and can decide for themselves if the exploration is too limited.

In the meantime, be sure to check out how long it will take to beat Starfield and how to plan your character build early.
