It is also worth mentioning that trainers can only catch one Dialga and one Palkia per save file, so keep that in mind. They are also shiny-locked Pokemon, so there are no chances for them to appear as shiny.

Where to find Palkia & Dialga Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Dialga and Palkia 5-Star Tera Raid battles can be found all across Paldea, by locating Purple Tera Raid Crystals shining across the game map.

Palkia is exclusive to the Scarlet version, while Dialga is exclusive to the Violet version. But don’t worry, you can still participate in Tera Raid battles from both versions through the Poke Portal feature.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Palkia Raid Tera Type & moveset

In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, beating Palkia Raid will not be easy, so here’s its moveset and Tera Type, so you can begin to plan your strategy.

Palkia has the Dragon-Tera Type, and this is the moveset that Palkia will bring to the encounter:

  • Draco Meteor
  • Thunder
  • Fire Blast
  • Hydro Pump
  • Gravity
  • Rain Dance

Best counters for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Palkia Tera Raid

The best counters for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Palkia Tera Raid, include Azumarill, Sylveon, Fezandipiti, Alolan Ninetales, and Iron Valiant.

Sylveon can resist most of Palkia’s moveset since it will only cause standard damage to it, and in the case of Draco Meteor, its most powerful move, Sylveon will be immune.

This Eeveelution will also get some powerful moves against the single Dragon-type Terastalized Palkia, so here’s the best strategy to use in case you have this Pokemon in your team.

Best Sylveon Strategy for Palkia Tera Raid in Pokemon S&V

sylveon in pokemon scarlet & violet
Sylveon is the Fairy-type evolution of Eevee.

For this strategy to beat Palkia Tera Raid, we will use Sylveon, a Fairy-type Pokemon, with also a Fairy Tera Type. Try to set Sylveon Nature as Modest, which pumps up Sp. Attack, and equip it with Shell Bell as a held item for recovery purposes.

Remember, Sylveon is still partially vulnerable to Palkia’s moveset, so having it with Draining Kiss, and Fake Tears can ensure your survival. You can also use Calm Mind to raise its Sp. Def stat, which is already considerably high.

Sylveon’s best ability, its hidden one, is Pixilate. This turns all Normal Type Moves into Fairy Type ones, and boosts its max attack by 20%, which means you can use a Fairy Type Hyper Voice, or even Hyper Beam if you want a high-risk high-reward move.

All these facts turn Sylveon into the very best counter for Palkia (and even Dialga if you want to), so consider taking it to this Raid.

Dialga in Pokemon Anime
Dialga can control Space, and it’s also a Dragon Steel-type.

The best counters for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Dialga Tera Raid include Azumarill, Sylveon, Alolan Sandslash, and Tinkaton.

To get the best results, we recommend Azumarill as your first pick for this raid. Since its type will help you resist all of Dialga’s moveset.

Azumarill can also use the powerful Belly Drum strategy, which we will explain next.

Best Azumarill Strategy for Dialga Tera Raid in Pokemon S&V

To beat the Dialga Tera Raid, use Azumarill with Adamant Nature, which boosts its attack power. Azumarill is a Physical Attacker, so, make sure it has the following moveset: Belly Drum, Play Rough, Liquidation, and Charm.

It is also important to equip Azumarill with a Shell Bell, for recovery purposes, and the Water Tera-Type, which will still resist most of Dialga’s attacks, and allow you to counter its barrier effectively. Pick Huge Power as its ability, which doubles Azumarill’s Attack Stat.

pokemon go species azumarill in the anime
Azumarill is one of the bulkiest Water-type Pokemon.

Azumarill is immune to Draco Meteor, and resistant to Steel Beam, Fire Blast, Stealth Rock, and Earth Power. So, nothing that Dialga does can chip away more than a 1/4 of this tanky Pokemon’s HP pool. But, just in case, prioritize Sp. Def as one of the EV Spreads, as well as its Attack Stat.

Start by using Belly Drum to maximize Attack output, follow with Play Rough to chip away at Dialga’s health, until it uses its Clear Effect. Now, use Charm to debuff it, and recovery Cheer to set your health straight again. You want to wait a couple of turns before using Belly Drum again, then follow suit with another Play Rough.

When Dialga shields are up, Terastalize and destroy it using Liquidation, which is boosted by the Water Tera Type. You probably would have destroyed Dialga by now, but just in case, hit it again and it’s all yours.
