Pokemon Go player triggers weird glitch: “They’re finally adding Missingno!”

For Pokemon Go players, stumbling with a bug or game error can be quite frustrating. But what happens when that bug turns out to be quite similar to one of the oldest myths in the franchise?

Trainers are having a great time catching Pokemon during the Pokemon Go Timeless Travels season, and though many of them are constantly showcasing some crippling game issues, others can still pull through and accomplish incredible catches.

But this weird visual glitch triggered by a member of the Pokemon Go community has trainers shocked and awed by its resemblance with a classic myth of the Pokemon franchise: Missingno.

For those who are unaware, the legend of Missingno began with Gen1 games and has, ever since, become one of the most debated topics in the history of the Pokemon games.

Reddit user ‘Cow-Tiger’ shared this in the Pokemon Go subreddit and asked the community: “Anyone else get weird visual glitches like these?” Other trainers and veteran Pokemon players quickly answered this post by saying things like: “Take the cartridge out, blow into it, and put it back in.” And: “They just added Missingno.”

Missingno was a glitch present in the old Pokemon cartridges from Gen 1 GameBoy Games, that could be triggered by faulty or dirty cartridges inserted in the portable console.

Luckily for the OP, another player explained why this happened: “Can confirm that my Google Pixel produces these kinds of artifacts all the time.” When the OP denied having that mobile phone brand, another one added: “I’m on a 6 pro and this kind of thing will flash up for a moment before the Pokemon renders properly, it doesn’t bother me but it’s definitely noticeable.”

Other players also explained that they have experienced the ‘Missingno’ error and slow loading times since the latest patch, so it might affect certain phone brands and models. We will let you know if Niantic offers an explanation or a fix for this new glitch.
