Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduced the new Terastallization mechanic into the mainline games that changes a Pokemon’s appearance and stats. To be the best trainer in Paldea, players must master Terastallization, so here’s how to get Tera Shards in Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can tackle many activities in the open world of Paldea, including Pokemon Raids. With different difficulties, types, and rewards, Raids are some of the best post-game content in Scarlet and Violet.

You can catch the best Pokemon in the game with Raids, and get some of the best item rewards. From EXP Candies to important items involved in Terastallization, you can’t miss out on raiding in Paldea.

To master Terastallization, a phenomenon that changes the appearance and stats of your Pokemon, you will need to know what Tera Shards are. Here’s how to get and use Tera Shards in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How to find Tera Shards

Tera Shards are key items in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet used for changing the Tera Type of your Pokemon and can be obtained in Raids and found across Paldea. Double-check every shiny dot you encounter in the wild, as Tera Shards are not found inside Pokeballs.

Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet can net many Tera Shards of different types that will help in changing the Tera Type of your Pokemon. If you are breeding a competitive creature, or you captured a Pokemon with perfect stats during a Raid, but you are not sure about its Tera Type, Tera shards will come in handy.

Tera Shards come in the form of the 16 types available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to use Tera Shards in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

To use Tera Shards in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players must first complete the Normal-type Gym challenge located in the city of Medali. Medali is found north of the Paldean crater, home of the mysterious Area Zero and Paradox Pokemon.

Once you complete the Gym and beat Larry, you can take the Tera Shards to the Treasure Eatery’s cook found on the counter. The cook will prepare the Shards into a dish and serve it to the desired Pokemon whose Tera Type you want to change.

To cook this meal, you will need 50 Tera Shards of the specific type you are aiming for, so start raiding and collect as many as you can to change your Pokemon’s Tera Type.
