How to beat Brute Bonnet Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Best counters

The best counters to beat Brute Bonnet Tera Raids are Kommo-o and Forretress. Pokemon Scarlet players can face a level 75 Brute Bonnet with a random Tera Type during its Tera Raid Battle event.

Brute Bonnet is a Grass/Dark-type Paradox Pokemon that knows the following moves during its Raid battle:

  • Sunny Day (Fire)
  • Spore (Grass)
  • Seed Bomb (Grass)
  • Taunt (Dark)
  • Payback (Dark)
  • Stomping Tantrum (Ground)

It’ll use Sunny Day at the start of the battle to activate its ability, Protosynthesis

Best Kommo-o strategy to beat Brute Bonnet Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet

Kommo-o is a Dragon/Fighting-type Pseudo Legendary Pokemon.

Kommo-o packs quite a punch against Brute Bonnet in the Tera Raid battle in Scarlet. This Pokemon boasts strong Fighting-type moves and an incredible Ability called Overcoat, which makes it immune to powder-based moves like Spore, preventing this Pseudo Legendary from falling asleep.

Taunt can be used to prevent Brute Bonnet from using status moves like Spore or Clear Smog, hindering the Raid boss significantly and helping your teammates. Additionally, Drain Punch helps Kommo-o deal damage and also recover HP, keeping it healthy throughout the battle.

Screech is a great addition to lower Brute Bonnet’s Defense by two stages, making it vulnerable to Physical attacks. You can also go with the infamous Belly Drum to maximize Kommo-o’s Attack, and have a great bet at OHKOing Brute Bonnet.

Best Forretress strategy to beat Brute Bonnet Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet

pokemon scarlet and violet brute bonnet tera raid counter forretress
Forretress’ Bug/Steel type combination makes it weak only to Fire-type attacks.

Forretress also boasts the Overcoat Ability, preventing it from being affected by Spore in the Brite Bonnet Tera Raid. Its high bulk helps it tank the Raid Boss’ attacks and even uses Reflect to reduce damage from Brute Bonnet’s attacks by 50%.

Iron Defense can boost Forretress’ Defense by two stages, making it nearly impossible to KO while Body Press calculates its already high Defense stat to deal massive damage. Finally, Lunge is a great move to not only damage the Raid Boss but also lower its Attack by one stage.

All in all, Forretress is a handy Pokemon to weaken Brute Bonnet’s offensive and defensive potential.

How to beat Iron Hands Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Best counters

The best counters to beat Iron Hands Tera Raids are Clodsire and Skeledirge. Pokemon Violet players can face a level 75 Iron Hands with a random Tera Type during its Tera Raid Battle event.

Iron Hands is a Fighting/Electric-type Paradox Pokemon that knows the following moves during its Raid battle:

  • Electric Terrain (Electric)
  • Wild Charge (Electric)
  • Drain Punch (Fighting)
  • Heavy Slam (Steel)
  • Earthquake (Ground)
  • Rock Slide (Rock)

It’ll use Electric Terrain at the start of the battle to activate its ability, Quark Drive.

Best Clodsire strategy to beat Iron Hands Tera Raids in Pokemon Violet

Clodsire’s exceptional 130 HP makes it very bulky.

Clodsire is an incredible counter to beat Iron Hands Tera Raids, thanks to its Poison/Ground-type combination that makes it immune to Iron Hands’ powerful Electric-type moves and resist its Fighting-type moves.

Earth Power deals super-effective damage, taking advantage of the Raid Boss’ low Special Defense stat. Unless the Raid Boss is Steel Tera Type, Clodsire can use Toxic to poison Iron Hands, slowly reducing its health. Acid Spray is a great addition to Clodsire’s moveset that does damage and lowers Special Defense by two stages, making Earth Power more powerful.

Best Skeledirge strategy to beat Iron Hands Tera Raids in Pokemon Violet

pokemon scarlet and violet iron hands tera raid counter skeledirge
Skeledirge is the Fire/Ghost-type starter in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Skeledire is a bulky starter Pokemon that is immune to Iron Hands’ Fighting-type moves. Its signature move Torch Song not only hits hard but also boosts Skeledirge’s Special Attack by one stage on each use, exploiting the low Special Defense of Iron Hands.

Will-O-Wisp is an asset as it burns Iron Hands and halves damage from its powerful attacks. Follow it up with Hex to deal high damage to burnt Iron Hands.

Finally, Slack Off restores Skeledirge’s HP, making it an unstoppable monster in the Raid Battle that can make Iron Hands weaker and easily beatable.
