Palworld players who use Steam are able to create dedicated servers, but the process can take a little more effort than you might expect. This guide will cover everything you need to know about creating a dedicated server in Palworld.

Palworld players can play with their friends in multiplayer, but that only allows you two to four players at a time. Using a dedicated server allows up to 32 players, and you can tweak the settings to your liking, making it a useful tool to customize your experience in Palworld

The process of setting up a dedicated server can be complicated, and it isn’t something built directly into the game just yet. Here is a full guide on how to create a dedicated server in Palworld.

How to create & configure a dedicated server in Palworld on Steam

Players can create a Palworld dedicated server through Steam by enabling tools in the Games and Software menu.

  1. Open Palworld on Steam once to get the game files loaded properly.
  2. Go to the Games and Software menu in Steam and enable Tools.
  3. Download Palworld Dedicated Server in your library.
  4. Right click on Palworld Dedicated Server and go to Manage>Browse Local Files.
  5. Open the DefaultPalworldSettings files in Notepad and copy everything below line three.
  6. Navigate to PalServer>Pal>Saved>Config>WindowsServer and paste the code in ‘PalWorldSettings.’
  7. Change the settings to your liking.
  8. Launch Dedicated Palworld and select ‘Dedicated Server.’
  9. Launch Palworld and enter Multiplayer.
  10. Paste your IP address followed by :8211 on the bottom of the screen and launch your server.

Firstly, you need to own the game on Steam to create a dedicated server. For now, Xbox does not allow for this, which means Steam is the only platform it is currently available on.

The first thing you’re going to need to do to create a dedicated server in Palworld is go to the Games and Software menu in Steam and enable tools in the dropdown menu. Once you have done so, the ‘Palworld Dedicated Server’ should show up in your Steam library.

After installing it, right-click on Palworld Dedicated Server, go to Manage, and select ‘Browse Local Files.’ To configure the server, open the ‘DefaultPalworldSettings’ file in Notepad and copy everything below line three.

Now, you need to navigate to PalServer>Pal>Saved>Config>WindowsServer and find the ‘PalWorldSettings’ ini file. Paste the code you just copied into this file. To change any settings, you need to change the text in the code.

For example, if you want to change the name or password in your server, make sure you enter it in the code where it is relevant. Like this: ServerName=”CharlieIntel” and AdminPassword=”CharlieTells”. Save your settings, and then return to Steam and launch the Dedicated Palworld Server.

Once you have launched, a pop-up window will appear asking if you want to play on a dedicated server or start a community server. Choose Dedicated Server and make sure the application is running every time you launch Palworld to ensure your server is running.

If you have the default Windows firewall and it asks you to allow the Palworld Dedicated Server app to make changes to your PC, make sure you click yes. Then you can share your IP address with players you want to invite to your server.

Launch Palworld and insert your IP address followed by the port number, which is 8211 by default. If you changed your port number in settings, make sure to use that number instead. You can find your IP address by going to WhatIsMyIP and copying your IPv4 number.

How to invite players to your Palworld server

Palworld players need to give their IP address to those they want to join their server, and the invited players will need to enter it into a textbox in-game.

  1. Share your IP address followed by your port number with players you want to invite.
  2. If your server is online, go to your router settings.
  3. Select Port Forwarding under Security options.
  4. Add the port number 8211 under ‘External Port’ and ‘Internal Port.’
  5. Change the protocol to UDP.
  6. Ensure the IP address matches the one on your PC.
  7. Click ‘Add New.’

Players can find their IP addresses by going to WhatIsMyIP and copying their IPv4 address. Players who are not hosting need this address if they want to enter your server. To get in, they need to type in the IPv4 address followed by the port number 8211, or the port number you have set your server to.

Unless you change the port number in your settings, this will likely be the number players need to use. Essentially, this is the formula players need to enter the server: HostIPaddress:PortNumber.

All players who want to join a dedicated server must enter the IP address.

If you want people to connect to your server through the internet, there is another step you need to take. In your router settings, go to the ‘Port Forwarding’ option in the security dropdown menu.

Add the port number you have selected, which is by default 8211, under ‘External Port’ and ‘Internal Port.’ Make sure it is the only number under these sections. Change the protocol to UDP, and ensure that the IP address is the one connected to your PC. Click ‘Add New,’ and this will allow the Palworld port through the firewall.

Not every router looks the same, so you may need to look up a guide that specifically deals with how to do Port Forwarding on your internet setup. Once you have done this, you can share your IP address and port number with players and they should be able to log in to your server.
