Treyarch dev Josh “FoxhoundFPS” Torres has confirmed they are investigating a Black Ops Cold War glitch that allows players to change the game’s weather

Mother nature is a mysterious being that can cause drastic changes in the world’s weather. But we don’t think Treyarch banked on some of their player base gaining the power to replicate this in Black Ops Cold War.

This has proven to be the case for one individual in the latest CoD game as they were able to influence their surroundings using only a weapon scope. Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War has had its fair share of weird and wonderful glitches such as Raid going full Mario Kart, Semtex making players fly, and Search & Destroy being broken.

When all is said and done with Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War, this will surely rank as one of the most eyebrow-raising glitches.

The footage in question comes from a Reddit post on the game’s official Reddit page and showed the full extent of the weather-changing scenario.

Our player patiently waited for a new round of Search & Destroy to commence on the Moscow map, but they discovered an oddity in the process. As any player would do, they spent the time messing around and ended up zooming in and out of their weapon’s scope.

What they probably didn’t expect to happen was to gain control of the large cloud that overlooked their portion of the map. Repeated use of ADS resulted in the cloud shrinking and enlarging with each zoom.

Strangely, other Reddit users replied with identical examples of it happening to them and supplying their take on the glitch.

One commenter said: “Dear God, I’ve got that happening too and it’s super distracting, especially in zombies. I wondered if it was FOV related, what’s yours set at?” Another poster replied to this hypothesis saying, “It’s FOV related. Someone posted it earlier and I tried it out myself. Can confirm.”

FOV is the game’s Field Of View that allows players to change how much of the environment they can see. The setting is only available on PC and current-gen consoles.

The video even got a response from FoxhoundFPS, Community Manager at Treyarch, to chime in on the bug, “We’re tracking this one.” He posted a link to the game’s official Trello page to underline that the issue is under investigation.

This is another glitch to keep an eye on and see if it comes a repeat offender, and on different maps too.
