In Hogwarts Legacy, catching beasts can reward you with Gold and other important crafting ingredients. The game features a huge roster of beasts to discover and tame, so here’s all about every beast in Hogwarts Legacy.

Harry Potter fans on new and old-gen consoles and PCs have jumped into the wizarding world of Hogwarts Legacy to explore Hogwarts Castle, learn powerful spells, brew potions, attend classes, and complete different Quests. Luckily, the game is finally releasing on the Nintendo Switch as well.

You can encounter a wide variety of magical beasts throughout your Hogwarts Legacy journey and some are friendlier than others. We’ll go over every single beast that’s in the game.

All beasts in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy features 17 different beasts that you’ll run into while exploring the game’s vast open world. You’ll likely recognize a few familiar faces that have appeared in the Fantastic Beasts or Harry Potter series.

You can find the Dens that these creatures inhabit on your map, and hovering over each Den will reveal which beast is in a specific area.

Dragons in Hogwarts Legacy

Dragons are the most popular and, from the looks of it, the most fearsome creatures around. A fantasy game would not be complete without a few Dragons and Hogwarts Legacy certainly delivers when it comes to the scaly beasts.

You’ll encounter this creature at Horntail Hall while completing the Fire and Vice Quest. From guarding Gringotts Bank to playing a major role in the TriWizard Tournament, fire-breathing Dragons have appeared throughout the Harry Potter universe on multiple occasions.

Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy

Graphorns are said to be aggressive creatures with sharp horns and skin that’s tougher than a Dragon’s. They can be found in Clagmar Coast when exploring the open world of Hogwarts Legacy.

Hippogriff in Hogwarts Legacy

Hippogriffs don’t get along with Nifflers if they are placed in the same vivarium.

Hippogriffs are located in the Forbidden Forest. The creature looks like a cross between a horse and an eagle, which gives players the ability to fly around in Hogwarts Legacy.

Fans of the Harry Potter franchise will surely recall Buckbeak the Hippogriff who lived with Hagrid during the Prisoner of Azkaban and later appeared in Harry’s subsequent years at Hogwarts.

Troll in Hogwarts Legacy

Coming across a Troll in Hogwarts Legacy will not be a pleasant experience. These massive creatures will outclass you in strength and size, but with some clever thinking, you’ll have a chance to outwit them. Just be mindful of the giant club they swing around and wield as a weapon.

Mooncalf in Hogwarts Legacy

Mooncalfves are small creatures that are extremely cute up close. If you’re looking to come across these furry friends, you’ll have to explore the Forbidden Forest and the south Hogwarts Region at night.

Mooncalf burrow deep underground and only surface during a full moon, which makes them quite a rare encounter.

Acromantula in Hogwarts Legacy

Acromantula are extremely aggressive and will attack you in Hogwarts Legacy.

If you have a fear of spiders, now would be a great time to look away. Acromantula are giant spiders that appear in the wizarding world of Hogwarts Legacy. You can find one in the Forbidden Forest during the Absconder Encounter Quest.

While common Acromantula grow to the size seen in the image above, older ones such as the Forbidden Forest’s Aragog can grow to a towering size.

Niffler in Hogwarts Legacy

Nifflers are in direct competition with Mooncalfs for the prize of most adorable beast in Hogwarts Legacy, and you can find them in Hogwarts Valley. Having first appeared in the initial Fantastic Beasts film, it didn’t take long for audiences to notice their charm.

Nifflers use their long snouts to track hidden treasures and they happen to cause some mischief from time to time. If you’re lucky, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to brush their fluffy hides in Hogwarts Legacy.

Fwooper in Hogwarts Legacy

Fwopoer feathers come in different colors.

Fwooper feathers are mainly used as quilts, and they hatch in up to four bright colors: yellow, orange, pink, and green. These little creatures are located in the South Hogwarts region.

Fwoopers are much more malicious than their cute appearance would indicate. Listening to their high-pitched songs could drive the listener insane, so you’ll want to keep your guard up when coming across a Fwooper in Hogwarts Legacy.

Jobberknoll in Hogwarts Legacy

Jobberknolls are small, blue-colored birds that are said to be silent until they pass away. Jobberknoll feathers can be collected in the Forbidden Forest and used to upgrade gear after visiting the Room of Requirement.

Giant Purple Toad in Hogwarts Legacy

Giant Purple Toads have warts that can be used to craft potions in Hogwarts Legacy.

Giant Purple Toads hang around the swamps and bogs next to Aranshire as well as in the Forbidden Forest. Their warts can be used to craft potions in the Hogwarts Room of Requirement.

Diricawl in Hogwarts Legacy

Diricawls can vanish and reappear whenever they sense danger in Hogwarts Legacy.

Diricawls are birds that are located on the south side of the Hogwarts map. They bare a close resemblance to the extinct Dodo bird and have the ability to vanish whenever they sense danger.

Thestral in Hogwarts Legacy

The Thestral is only visible to those that have witnessed death.

Thestrals are skeletal, horse-like beasts that have wings. You can use these beasts to fly if you own the Hogwarts Legacy Dark Arts Pack DLC.

Luna Lovegood explained what these creatures are in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and they can only be seen by those who have witnessed death.

Kneazle in Hogwarts Legacy

Kneazel are popular pets for Witches and Wizards in the Harry Potter universe.

The Kneazle can be found in the South Sea Bog. They resemble cats with large ears and tails that resemble those of lions. They’re slightly bigger than regular cats and are kept as pets by Hogwarts students.

In the Harry Potter series, the Phoenix known as Fawkes could be found in Albus Dumbledore’s office and even helped Harry save the day during his encounter with the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets.

This magical bird is reborn from its ashes after bursting into flames and its feathers are part of Wand cores. You can find this creature in the wild and raise it in the Vivarium.

When you enter the Forbidden Forest, you may encounter Unicorns. These creatures have golden hooves and ornate patterns on their bodies. Their blood can be used to sustain life, and their tail hair is a part of Wand cores.

Puffskein in Hogwarts Legacy

The Puffskein is another popular pet choice for young Witches and Wizards.

Puffskein are small, fluffy beasts with long tongues, and you can find these adorable creatures in a den east of the Forbidden Forest Foo Flame. They appear in different colors and sizes.

The Puffskein is often kept as a pet by Witches and Wizards. You can use their fur to improve your gear in Hogwarts Legacy.

Centaurs in Hogwarts Legacy

Centaurs are half-man, half-horse creatures that many will know from Greek mythology. They can be found in the Forbidden Forest and will battle enemies such as spiders if they arrive in their territory.
