Farmers have been a major problem in Helldivers 2 since launch, and now an Arrowhead Game Studios dev has confirmed that these players are actively sabotaging Super Earth’s war effort.

Helldivers 2 has been a major success since launching in February, with millions of players joining the fight to spread democracy and push back enemy forces. The game pits the community against the Automatons and Termanids, which have waged war against Super Earth.

Completing operations contributes to the liberation of each planet, and players can see how they are faring against both factions overall. However, it isn’t the robots or bugs that are disrupting the war effort, it seems that fellow Helldivers are actually causing the main issues.

Following reports that notorious players are sabotaging missions by killing teammates, a Helldivers 2 dev has confirmed that farmers are hurting the community’s progress.

Reddit user ‘Tastrix’ shared an image of an exchange on the game’s official Discord, where a player asked if quitting an operation midway increases the red meter, which shows how close enemies are to taking the planet.

In response, a dev replied: “Yes, quitting after only half the op counts as a loss for Super Earth,” which confirms that farmers are actually hindering the progress of everyone else.

Since Helldivers 2 launched, some players have taken to focusing on specific mission types to try and gather resources like XP, Medals, or Requisition. They mostly do this by running shorter missions, as they quickly get in, gather what they need, and get out.

However, rather than finishing the rest of the operation, they quit and start another with more of the missions they want to do. But, as the dev above mentioned, this actually holds up the progress of other players, and many expressed their frustration.

“By the time a legit group has finished their entire op farmers have already reset over 15 operations of 3-minute eradicate missions,” said one reply, before another added: “So it sounds like there’s 3 factions; Terminids, Automatons, and Farmers.”

Fans will be hoping that Arrowhead Game Studios release a solution to this problem in a future update. For more on Helldivers 2, be sure to check out the Armor with secret stats, as well as how to stop Super Credits from disappearing.
