Halo Infinite is already the most successful Xbox Game Studio title of all time on Steam
The rumors were true, and Halo Infinite’s multiplayer component was stealth released on November 15, 2021. Even just a matter of hours since the game’s surprise drop, Halo Infinite is already the most successful Xbox Game Studio title to hit Steam.
Players can now load into Season 1 of the free-to-play multiplayer and start chipping away at the brand new battle pass in the public beta.
It’s no surprise that Halo Infinite has made quite a splash in the short time it has been live, but impressively it’s already the most successful Xbox Game Studio title to ever hit the Steam platform.
The news came via industry analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter not even three hours after the shock release.
He claimed that in such a short space of time, Halo Infinite had already smashed past 162,000 concurrent users on Steam.
This eclipsed the record previously set by the Master Chief Collection of 161,000, and Infinite’s stats are only going to skyrocket as more and more players download the game.
When you consider that Infinite has only just been released with little warning, and Forza Horizon 5 only managed 81,000, these are seriously impressive numbers.
Ahmed did point out that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is free-to-play, while other Xbox Game Studio titles so far have come at a price on PC. This accessibility has most likely contributed to more fans dropping in to try out the hotly-anticipated game.
That being said, these stats only take Steam into account. Being a flagship Xbox series, the vast majority of players will be using Xbox consoles or the PC version of Xbox Game Pass.
We’ll have to wait and see how the latest entry in the historic shooter series has fared on its native Xbox platforms. But there’s no doubt that Infinite is off to a strong start with the campaign still to come.
