Genshin Impact version 5.0 – Release date, leaked characters, Natlan region, more
HoYoverseGenshin Impact 5.0 is still a bit far away from the current version, but HoYoverse started to confirm certain leaks about this massive update. Besides introducing Natlan, the sixth major region of Teyvat, there’s a full cast of new characters related to this land ruled by the God of War, Murata.
Here’s everything we know so far about Genshin Impact‘s next big chapter, including everything officially confirmed and leaked information.
Genshin Impact version 5.0 release date
Genshin Impact version 5.0 will be released on August 28, 2024.
This is based on the game’s current cycle of new versions every six weeks, and with 4.8 being the last update in 4.X versions, 5.0 will go live on August 28. Of course, this is also based on the assumption that there are no unexpected delays. If there are any, we’ll make sure to update you.
New Natlan region in Genshin Impact
First teased in the 4.7 live stream, the Natlan region will introduce the new chapter in the Archon quest, called Act 6: Incandescent Ode of Resurrection.
According to leaks, this new area will be similar to version 3.1’s map size, which added three major areas to Suemru’s desert: Land of Lower Setekh, Land of Upper Setekh, and Hypostyle Desert.
The region, Natlan, was teased in the 4.7 livestream and though we don’t know much about it, it does look as if it’ll be located near Sumeru and have a dry, volcanic terrain. It’s also home to dragons, called Saurian, and while these creatures don’t look like typical dragons, they are adorable, and should aid players in getting around Natlan.
Hoyoverse released a teaser of three Saurian, which shows them burrowing underground, scaling tall cliffs, and swimming through water and lava. It also shows one creature using its tongue to grab an object and spin through the air, so it’s likely they can be used to reach inaccessible areas or solve puzzles.
Natlan is also leaked to bring several new additions to explorations in ridable mounts and a ‘Quick Exploration’ mechanic. It is unclear what was implied by Quick Exploration, but it could be something similar to the ziplines we’ve had in each major added region, starting with Thunder Sphere in Inazuma.
Genshin Impact 5.0 leaked characters & banners
According to leaks, there are three new characters making their debut in Genshin Impact 5.0. The two new 5-star characters are called Kinich (Dendro / Claymore) and Maulina (Hydro / Catalyst), and the only new 4-star character is named Kachina (Geo / Polearm).
HoYoverse haven’t confirmed which characters will be featured in this update, but did reveal most of the cast that will take part in this new chapter. Thanks to other leaks on Reddit, we were able to puzzle together which characters are most likely to be part of 5.0 banners.

Leaked character level update
Leaks suggest version 5.0 of Genshin Impact will increase the maximum level of characters to 100, up from the current 90. Finer details on it, like the materials needed and if it’ll also provide ascension and stats bonuses, are still unknown.
Outside of these, 5.0 is also said to add Deepwood Memories, Gilded Dreams, Desert Pavilion Chronicles, and Flower of Paradise Lost to the Artifact strongbox.
Deepwood Memories is best for Dendro characters, as 2PC gives Dendro a DMG bonus and reduces an opponent’s Dendro RES at 4PC. Both Flower of Paradise Lost and Gilded Dreams provide 80 EM as a 2-piece set bonus, and Desert Pavilion Chronicle is for Anemo DPS as it has a 15% Anemo DMG bonus at 2PC and 4PC, giving attack speed and bonus to charged, plunging, and normal attacks.
