The Ring of Oath is an item you’ll need to continue Ranni’s questline in Elden Ring. However, the item you’re looking for is actually called the Dark Moon Ring, so here’s how to get it.

Elden Ring features multiple endings and you’ll need the Ring of Oath to achieve one of the most popular options. The need for the item will arise as you delve deeper into Ranni‘s questline, and eventually face a foggy barrier demanding “a Ring of Oath.”

Here’s where you can find the Ring of Oath, also known as the Dark Moon Ring, in Elden Ring.

To get the Ring of Oath or Dark Moon Ring in Elden Ring, you’ll need to open a locked chest near the Raya Lucaria Grand Library Site of Grace. This location will be familiar to most players as it is the site of the Rennala boss fight. The chest is tucked between stacks of books and requires the Discarded Palace Key to be unlocked.

To get the key, you need to progress Ranni’s questline up until the point you defeat the Baleful Shadow. This means that you’ll need to access Ansel River and see out your adventure with Miniature Ranni.

Once that’s done, return to the Raya Lucaria Academy to open the chest and get the Dark Moon Ring.

How to use Ring of Oath in Elden Ring

The Ring of Oath or Dark Moon Ring in Elden Ring is needed to clear the barrier near the Grand Cloister Site of Grace. Once the barrier opens up, you can move on to the Moonlight Altar region and descend into the Cathedral of Manus Celes.

For the sake of spoilers, we’ll refrain from stating what happens next but this is where Ranni’s questline ends.
