Stardew Valley has been one of the most popular titles to enjoy when it comes to cozy games. If you’re wondering if you can play it with your friends on other platforms, here’s everything you need to know about the cross-progression and crossplay in Stardew Valley.

In the 2D farming simulator, Stardew Valley, you can build a farm from the ground up, market the produce, and socialize with a wide range of fascinating villagers. In addition to harvesting the crops, you can fish, raise animals, make crafts, and even marry some of the villagers.

Stardew Valley is unique when it comes to the marriage aspect, unlike games such as Minecraft and Terraria. Naturally, you’ll want to invite your friends to play with you as it supports co-op up to four players. But your friends might not be on the same platform as you.

So, if you’re wondering if Stardew Valley has crossplay and cross-progression, here’s all you need to know.

Does Stardew Valley support crossplay?

No, Stardew Valley doesn’t support crossplay between any of the platforms that the game is available on. You can only play with your friends if they are all on the same platform as you.

That means you can’t team up with your friends if they are using a different platform. For example, if you are playing Stardew Valley on the Switch and your friend is playing it on the PS4, you will not be able to join each other’s farm.

The only exception to this is if you are playing on different versions of the PC game. Stardew Valley supports crossplay between Steam, GOG, and Windows 10 Store versions of the game. However, you cannot crossplay with the mobile versions of the game on Android or iOS.

The developer has not made any new announcements about supporting crossplay either. In 2018, he said “Unfortunately, there will not be crossplay. Apparently, the technical barriers are very high. It’s still something I really want to add and I promise to look into it more closely, but first priority is getting the update out there.”

Since then, there have been no updates on this topic, so it is safe to assume that crossplay will not be added to Stardew Valley.

Does Stardew Valley support cross-progression?

Stardew Valley doesn’t support cross-progression either, except for the PC and mobile versions of the game. You can transfer your saved data between PC and Android or iOS devices using a file manager app. However, you cannot transfer your saved data between consoles or between PC and consoles.

Cross-progression is a quite helpful feature that allows you to transfer your saved data between different platforms. For example, if you have a farm on your PC and you want to continue playing it on your Switch, you would need cross-progression to do so.
