In The Sims 4, you’ll need to master every command if you want to get the best out of your builds, so here’s how to rotate every item freely.

Building and styling your house in The Sims 4 isn’t as easy as placing items at random. Builder simmers know that players have to learn how to rotate items and get them in the perfect position, so sims can freely use them.

How to rotate items freely in The Sims 4

There are a couple of commands that will let you rotate items as you want in the Sims 4. This will only work while in Build Mode, so remember to enter that mode to choose the items you want to place.

Here’s every command that you can use on PC:

  • Rotate objects 45° degrees: (Using the default Sims 4 camera setting) Left-click to select an object and right-click to rotate it clockwise before placing it.
  • Rotate objects freely: (Using the Sims 3 camera mode) Press and hold Alt while an object is selected, and drag your mouse to rotate it to any exact degree.

Here’s every command that you can use on PlayStation:

  • Rotate objects 45° degrees: Select the object you want to place. Press R1 to rotate an object clockwise, or R2 to rotate an object counter-clockwise. To place it, let go of R1 and R2 when the object is facing the direction you want.
  • Rotate objects freely: While in Build Mode, select the object you want and hold down L1 and R1. Move the Right Analog Stick to rotate it as you want. You can let go of the buttons once the object is facing the direction you want.

  • Rotate objects freely: While in Build Mode, select the object you want and hold down LB and RB. Move the Right Analog Stick to rotate it as you want. Let go of the buttons once the object is facing the direction you want.

  • Rotate objects 45° degrees: Select the object from Build mode, and use the right button to rotate the object 45° degrees. Left-click to place it wherever you want.
  • Rotate objects freely: Open Build Mode, and select the objects you want to place. Left-click and hold the object. Hold down the ALT key and use your mouse to turn the item. Let go of the left mouse button when it’s facing the direction you want.

Keep in mind that you can use the “bb.moveobjects on” cheat to freely move and rotate any object, item, piece of furniture, or decoration and place it wherever you want in your Sims household.
