How to repair gear in No Rest for the Wicked

Combat in No Rest for the Wicked

No Rest for the Wicked has a large array of weapons and armor to play with, but each time you die, it loses some of its durability. So, here is how you can repair your gear in No Rest for the Wicked.

Your equipment is arguably the most important aspect of No Rest for the Wicked. However, every time you die, it will lose some durability. Die enough times without repairing it and you are not able to use it anymore.

So, making sure you can repair your gear is very important, and here is every way you can do so in-game.

How to repair your equipment in No Rest for the Wicked

You can repair your equipment in No Rest for the Wicked by using a blacksmith’s services or Repair Powder

Repair Powder is the most reliable way to make sure your gear is always repaired.

You first meet Fillmore the blacksmith in Mariner’s Keep, where he is being harassed by some enemies in the Mess Hall. Once you help him out, he will be able to repair your gear for free for a little while. As you progress through the game and find more blacksmiths, they will also be able to repair your gear for you for a small fee.

You can otherwise find Repair Powder randomly in boxes while you are exploring. This is the easiest way to make sure your gear is always in tip-top shape, so make sure you’re looting whenever you can.

How to rescue Fillmore in No Rest for the Wicked

To rescue Fillmore in No Rest for the Wicked, you need to find the Mess Hall key in Mariner’s Keep and save him from the people harassing him.

Step by step, here is how to rescue Fillmore:

  • Reach the large makeshift bonfire in Mariner’s Keep.
  • Go past the bonfire toward the main gate that leads out of the area.
  • Before you reach the gate, go into the small alcove to the right of the gate.
  • There is a corpse lying on a wooden platform here. Loot it for the Mess Hall key.
  • Return to the bonfire and go through the Mess Hall door just below it.
  • Defeat the enemies and free Fillmore.

Durability in No Rest for the Wicked explained

The durability of your gear degrades every time you die in No Rest for the Wicked

Your weapons and armor will not degrade completely the first time you die (thankfully). However, each time you are defeated, they will get a little worse for wear.

If your gear is broken or close to breaking, an indicator will appear on the bottom right of the screen to show you what equipment is in bad shape. Here are what the colors mean:

  • Yellow: Moderate damage, still usable but you should probably start thinking about getting repairs.
  • Orange: Serious damage, you should repair your gear as soon as you can.
  • Red: Your gear is broken and cannot be used until it is repaired.

Even if your gear breaks completely, you can still repair it and use it again. So don’t worry too much if you see the red indicator, because you’ll still be able to use that gear when you’ve managed to fix it.
