No Rest for the Wicked gameplay & story

No Rest for the Wicked is set in the year 841, and it uses a soft class system alongside a combat system inspired by soulslike games.

Story

The player assumes control of a Cerim, a group of holy warriors tasked with eradicating the plague known as Pestilence in Isola Sacra.

The King has died, and rumors have emerged that the plague is now returning. You are called to investigate these rumors, but your journey is interrupted by a rebel group known as the Risen. You wake up on the shores of Isola Sacra with no weapons and armor, and you have to find your way back.

Apart from the threat of monsters, there’s also a political conflict that is tearing the land apart, and the Cerim get heavily entangled in it.

Gameplay

The game follows a top-down perspective, and like most RPGs, it has a character creator too. The combat is inspired by soulslike games, and players will be able to dodge and parry attacks from the enemy at the cost of Stamina.

Looking at the early access launch trailer, it also seems that players will be able to fish and chop wood. This implies that some crafting mechanics could be important to the story, as well as revealing that we could possibly have the ability to cook. This is all speculation at this stage, but we will keep you updated as more about the game is revealed.
