Gray Zone Warfare is a new tactical shooter causing a buzz among FPS fans, but is it coming to consoles as well as PC? Here’s everything we know so far about Gray Zone Warfare on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as last-gen hardware.

Gray Zone Warfare is a new tactical extraction shooter receiving a positive response since creators went hands-on with it, earning favorable comparisons to Escape from Tarkov. It’s already being touted as one of the best games of 2024 on Steam, but will PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players be able to visit Lamang too?

Here’s everything revealed about a console version of Gray Zone Warfare so far.

Will Gray Zone Warfare be on PS5 & Xbox Series X/S?

No, a console version of Gray Zone Warfare hasn’t been announced as part of its early access release. The game is currently exclusive to Steam and there has been no official announcement of a console port, but there is good news for those on PlayStation and Xbox.

In a 2023 interview with Game Rant, Creative Director Marek Rabas revealed that they’re aiming to bring Gray Zone Warfare to consoles in the future.

He said: “We are planning it, you know. We want to support consoles. We won’t do it immediately because we need to stabilize it first. We need to do everything on the PC, do the first updates on the PC, and if the game will be suitable to put on consoles, we will do it.”

Although Rabas didn’t give an exact timeframe, he went on to say that the team is aiming to make it happen during the early access period set to begin later in 2024.

“Even during the Early Access, we will try to do Early Access on the consoles,” he continued. “Because I love consoles, I play a lot on them. I think it’s a big space there. There are not so many tactical shooters there.”

To be clear, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Gray Zone Warfare will hit PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2024, as they are committed to developing the game for PC first and foremost. That being said, once the Steam version is in a healthy state, the devs may look at bringing it over to consoles.

Is Gray Zone Warfare coming to PS4 and Xbox One?

There is currently no official word on a PS4 and Xbox One version of Gray Zone Warfare and it seems unlikely to arrive on last-gen platforms. Although the devs have shown interest in a console release, the older hardware lacks the power that the game will need.

The extraction shooter takes place on a huge map with 48 real players and over 1000 AI enemies, and even features a realistic ballistic system. This would push the newer consoles to their limit, so a PS4 and Xbox One version is doubtful.
