Game of Thrones is one of the most beloved TV franchises of all time, and now it’s reportedly destined for a video game release.

According to reports, a Game of Thrones video game is currently in development. The successful world created by George R. R. Martin, who also helped create the world of Elden Ring, has traversed the gaming space before, but none of the titles have really been a hit.

That could change, however, as Nexon, a South Korean video game Publisher that are behind popular titles such as The Finals and Dave the Diver, are said to be developing a Game of Thrones MMORPG.

An MMORPG is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, which essentially sees players completing missions in an online server, either with a party or without, leveling up and developing their character as they get through the story.

This comes from a report on April 28 by Redanian Intelligence, a news website focusing on fantasy franchises like House of the Dragon, The Witcher, and Lord of the Rings.

In the article, they claimed to have learned that a new Game of Thrones MMORPG is being developed by Nexon that takes place in the North. Redanian Intelligence claimed to also know that “Winterfell and The Wall” are both locations featured in the game, and that the story is set “somewhere around Game of Thrones Season 4/Season 5.”

According to the report, popular characters from the GoT series such as Jon Snow, Sam Tarly, and Roose Bolton will be included in the game, but, as far as Redanian Intelligence knows, “the original cast isn’t returning to voice their characters.”

The most interesting aspect of this Game of Thrones MMORPG is of course the online aspect, which will feature a story campaign. There will be some customization aspects too, as players will be able to select a male or female protagonist.

The report compares the title to The Elder Scrolls Online, claiming the package sounds extremely similar. This is all that is known so far about the Game of Thrones MMORPG, and there are no details on a release year. Once more information is available, we’ll be sure to update you.
