Fortnite is celebrating a new TMNT event, but players aren’t too happy about some prices for Festival instruments in the Item Shop.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 refreshed the battle royale and Zero Build experiences while also adding new experiences like LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing. Players can also enjoy a musical game inspired by Guitar Hero in Fortnite Festival, and they can even get its dedicated season pass to get special instruments and featured songs.

However, the Fortnite Festival season pass costs like two regular Battle Passes and doesn’t offer players a huge load of rewards. What’s more, some fans are questioning the monetization behind Festival cosmetics now that a new TMNT collaboration is ongoing.

Reddit user ‘ImJustSpareShadez’ asked the community: “Do you guys think that a hardly-seen Instrument is worth the same price as the combination of the iconic Skin itself + Backbling + Pickaxe altogether?”

OP shared two screenshots of the Fortnite Item Shop that show that a TMNT skin bundle costs 1,600 V-Bucks, while one TMNT instrument is priced at 1,500 V-Bucks. The bundles for each character include an outfit, Pickaxe, and Back Bling to use in different game modes, alongside a LEGO Fortnite version as well. The Fortnite Festival instrument isn’t bundled and only works on its dedicated experience.

Most players were quick to answer the question with “No, I think that the most expensive instrument should be 500 or 600 V-Bucks,” and “Absolutely-fu**ng-not. I’ve never bought an instrument because they’re overpriced as s**t.” Reddit user ‘SailingSmitty’ added, “I’ve never bought one because you hardly see it when playing and it’s not a pickaxe or anything. I simply cannot understand the value.”

The TMNT skins were extremely well received by the community.

Other fans suggested that Epic Games should give instruments some use outside of Fortnite Festival to provide them more value. “They should be usable as pickaxes/backblings. Even then they are way overpriced,” explained one player, and another added “Bundle all 4 instruments together for that price and sure. Individually, nah, hard pass.”

Other players chimed in stating that “instruments should be free” and that this is Epic’s strategy so you feel better buying the TMNT bundle. Either way, Festival is currently in its first season, so many expect some big changes with future updates.
