Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 patch notes

Theme

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 is another Marvel season, which Epic Games confirmed after it was initially revealed in the leaked roadmap. Just like Chapter 2 Season 4, the island has been overrun with iconic comic characters, such as Dr Doom, Mysterio, and War Machine.

Not only do all these characters appear on the new Battle Pass as unlockable skins, but you can also defeat their NPCs to pick up Medallions and claim Mythic weapons.

New weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4

  • Dual Micro SMGs
  • War Machine’s Arsenal
    • War Machine’s Auto Turret
    • War Machine’s Hover Jets
  • Monarch Pistol
  • Sovereign Shotgun

On top of all these new weapons, plenty have been unvaulted from the previous Marvel season, and others have made their way over from Chapter 5 Season 4:

  • Captain America’s Shield (Returning from the Endgame LTM in Chapter 1!)
    • Balance changes:
      • New shield-charge capability.
      • Now blocks while sliding and jumping.
  • Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets
    • Balance changes:
      • Added attack functionality from Iron Man’s Repulsors.
      • Increased repulsor attack speed.
      • Increased repulsor damage.
      • Can now overheat.
  • Striker Burst Rifle
    • Balance changes:
      • Now moddable.
      • Increased fire rate.
      • Increased damage.
      • Decreased reload time.
  • Striker Assault Rifle
  • Combat Assault Rifle
  • Ranger Pistol
  • Hammer Pump Shotgun
  • Gatekeeper Shotgun
  • Hyper SMG
  • Shockwave Grenade (technically not a weapon but it kinda sounds like one)

Map changes

Doomstadt POI in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4
The update has completely changed the look of the map.

To double down on the Marvel theme, Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 has also introduced a ton of map changes around the island. You can now visit the following POIs:

  • Castle Doom
  • Doomstadt
  • The Raft

Castle Doom is the home of iconic villain Doctor Doom, while Doomstadt is a quiet village set in his home country of Latveria. Meanwhile, The Raft is a prison that has played a key role in plenty of Marvel storylines, as it’s usually home to some of the most notorious villains after they’ve been caught.

To make room for these new locations, Lavish Lair, Classy Courts, and Pleasant Plaza have all been removed from the island.

Battle Pass skins

  • Gwenpool: “I played the Galactus Event. That makes me an Avenger, right?”
  • War Machine: Ace pilot, military veteran, and trusted armored ally of Tony Stark.
  • Peelverine: Nanamantium-infused skeleton with a ripen-eration mutant ability.
  • Emma Frost: A devious and brilliant mutant psychic with an unbreakable will.
  • Captain Jones: Take up the shield of justice.
  • Mysterio: An inventive supervillain with illusions of grandeur.
  • Shuri: The genius Princess of Wakanda and current Black Panther.

Gwenpool is unlocked as soon as you purchase the Battle Pass, while Shuri’s Black Panther is this update’s headline skin. There will also be a secret skin released later in the season who has hasn’t been confirmed, but from the trailer it could be a new Dr Doom or an unknown hero.

Festival Season 5

The Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 update also marks the start of Festival Season 5. This time, the musical mode is headlined by Columbian pop star Karol G, complete with a new Festival Pass and loads of Jam Tracks like Qlona and OKI DOKI.

If you’re hopping into the new season, make sure you know all of the best landing spots to start your game on the right foot, as well as the ideal PC and controller settings.
