FIFA 22 FUT Champions: Rewards, ranks, format & tips
The FUT Champions Weekend League is the mode where players compete for the top prizes that FIFA 22 Ultimate Team has to offer. This year, EA has made some significant changes to how it works.
If you’re looking for the absolute best rewards on offer in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team to help build your perfect squad, then FUT Champions is the place to be.
FUT Champs is Ultimate Team’s elite mode, where players compete to earn coins, packs, and TOTW cards.
For FIFA 22, EA has shaken up the structure of how the mode will work. So we’ve broken it all down for you right here.
FIFA 22 FUT Champions format
In previous years, players would earn qualification points when playing Division Rivals, which could be redeemed for entry to the Weekend League. This year, the whole process works slightly differently.
Now, playing Division Rivals earns Champions Qualification Points, which automatically secures your entry into the Play-Offs when you have enough.
Once in the Play-Offs, fans battle their way through a set number of matches at their leisure. At the end of the games, rewards will be unlocked based on how many points they’ve earned for winning or losing.
If you earn a certain number of points, you’ll also be granted a Finals Qualification Token. This can be used to play in the Champions Finals weekend of your choice.
The Finals will be familiar to those who played FIFA 21, although EA has made a few tweaks to how the mode will operate.
Champions Finals take place throughout the weekend, with players having 20 matches to earn as many points as possible. Four points will be awarded for a win and one for a defeat.

The number of points accumulated places you in one of six ranks, each giving out rewards such as packs, coins, and player picks.
In a drastic change from the previous year, rewards can be redeemed after all 20 matches are completed, or the Champions Finals event ends.

FUT Champions tips
FIFA 22 FUT Champs attracts the very best players, so you’re going to need to bring your A-game if you want to grab the best rewards.
That being said, even the lower ranks are worth playing for when you consider how easy they are to achieve – especially Rank 5, which only requires you to play and lose all 20 games.
With this in mind, we’ve put together some tips for how to make the most of your FUT Champions Finals weekend.

Have a warm-up game
If you go into FUT Champions for your first game of the day, chances are you won’t be playing to the best of your ability.
We advise you to drop into a Division Rivals game or play a Squad Battle on a high difficulty to get yourself in the mood for a long slog.
It won’t guarantee you a great weekend, but it will dust off those cobwebs and give you the best possible chance.
Set up your Custom Tactics
Custom Tactics are used by many players to switch to their preferred formation in-game, but it’s easy to forget to make full use of every slot.
You have four different tactic options, from Ultra Defensive up to All-Out-Attack, so we recommend you adjust each one to cope with varying sets of circumstances.
Make sure you have a five-at-the-back formation for when you have to desperately defend a lead, as well as a formation to flood the box if you’re trailing in the last few minutes.
Check out our formations guide for a more in-depth look at how to tackle each one.
Don’t be afraid to quit
You still earn one point for a loss in FUT Champions, so you don’t leave any match empty-handed.
With 20 high-pressure games to get through, it doesn’t make sense to stay in games when there is no chance of you winning.
Sometimes you are matched against a better player, so if you ship a boatload of goals in early on, quit the match, take your point, and move on to the next one.
Every opponent has a different style of play to the last, meaning that sometimes the players in your starting XI might not be effective against the team you’re facing.
That’s why it’s crucial to have a diverse set of substitutes that offer something different and can turn a game on its head.
For example, if you play with a target man up top, have someone pacey on the bench so you can switch things up if you need to.
It’s also worth thinking about the players in your team with poor stamina and line up replacements for when they begin to tire.
Take a break
The pressure of having to earn a certain amount of points can make FUT Champs an extremely stressful mode, and it’s easy to get stuck in a rut.
If you lose a few games on the spin, rather than using up your limited matches trying to rediscover your form, take a break from FIFA altogether and do something else.
After some time away, come back refreshed and ready to take the weekend by storm.
That was everything you need to know about how the FUT Champions Weekend League works in this year’s FIFA.
