Diablo 4 becomes Blizzard’s fastest-selling game of all time
Diablo 4 has set a new record as Blizzard’s fastest-selling game of all time, cementing its legacy as a critical and commercial success.
Fans of the franchise waited a long time for a new Diablo game following the release of Diablo 3 in 2012. It’s safe to say that Diablo 4 has not disappointed, with reactions from players throughout its early access period being overwhelmingly positive.
It hasn’t taken long for the highly anticipated game to break records as confirmation arrived on June 6 crowning Diablo 4 as the fastest-selling Blizzard game of all time.
Diablo 4 sales make it Blizzard’s fastest-selling game ever
A Tweet from the official Diablo Twitter account confirms that “#DiabloIV is the fastest selling Blizzard game of all-time.”
While official sales numbers have not been shared yet, Diablo 4 has done enough to set an impressive new record.
A report published by Business Wire also revealed that Diablo 4 achieved the “highest pre-launch unit sales ever on both console and PC,” thus contributing to making it Blizzard’s fastest-selling game of all time.
The report also provides details revealing how long players have played the new title, and the results are staggering: “In the four days since early access started on June 1, Diablo IV has been played for 93 million hours, or over 10,000 years — the equivalent playing 24 hours a day since the beginning of human civilization.”
With Diablo 4 available on such a wide variety of platforms including PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, it’s no surprise to see such positive pre-launch purchase numbers. Diablo 4’s accessibility is a strong factor behind its sales numbers.
Furthermore, Diablo 4 features cross-platform and cross-progression, truly giving players more ways to play than ever.
