The Diablo 4 Campfire Chat revealed major changes coming to the game in Season 4, including the introduction of the Artificer’s Pit. Here is everything you need to know about it, including the rewards you get, and how to access it.

Diablo 4 Season 4 is arriving on May 14, 2024 with a massive list of changes coming to the game. Devs revealed changes to Helltides, an itemization overhaul, a new endgame boss, and more that players have been excited about since the announcements.

One of the bigger additions coming to Season 4 is the Artificer’s Pit, a new feature for players who have made it to later levels in the game and want to grind out some interesting rewards.

Here is everything you need to know about the Diablo 4 Artificer’s Pit, including how you can get to it and what kind of rewards to expect.

What is the Artificer’s Pit in Diablo 4?

The Artificer’s Pit is a new endgame activity coming in Diablo 4 Season 4 that can be used by players to summon higher-level versions of all bosses for valuable loot.

You can choose what Tier you want to play in The Pit.

The Pit is a timed activity where players will enter a multi-leveled dungeon and kill enemies until a boss spawns. Every time you die, instead of being ejected from the Pit like in Abattoir of Zir, 30 seconds will be taken off of your time.

There will be different tilesets and monster families for variety, and players can also expect some cameos from the boss pool like the Shadow of Lilith.

Rewards for completing The Pit in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 players who manage to complete the Artificer’s Pit will get Mastery rewards which tie into the new Masterwork system.

Aside from the normal loot you can expect, The Pit will also drop Stygian Stones. These are the materials you need to summon Level 200 versions of Uber bosses, called Tormented bosses.

The Pit will also serve as the main way to get Masterwork resources Obducite, Ingolith, and Neathiron. You will need to reach higher ranks in The Pit to fully masterwork your weapons.

How to access the Artificer’s Pit in Diablo 4

Players can access the Artificer’s Pit in Diablo 4 after they have completed a Tier 45 Nightmare dungeon

The Pit gives you the necessary materials you need for Masterworking.

Once you have completed a Tier 45 Nightmare dungeon, you will get access to a new material called Rune Shards. These will drop all over the world, and they are what you need to access the Artificer’s Pit.

Similarly to how Rifts used to work in Diablo 3, you need to take your Rune Shards to the Artificer’s Obelisk in Cerrigar to open up the Pit and defeat the enemies inside.
