Warzone players baffled as “only usable” Sniper hit with unexpected nerf

Warzone players have been left confused after the KATT-AMR Sniper Rifle was nerfed in the Season 1 Reloaded update, with many wondering if the devs want “sniping out of the game.”

The Warzone Season 1 Reloaded update brought plenty of fresh content to the CoD battle royale, from new weapons like the HRM-9 SMG to the Night Vision Gulag. As expected, it also came with a host of balancing changes designed to shake up the meta.

The controversial fire Shotguns finally received a nerf, while Thermobaric Grenades were handed a substantial buff to make them more effective. However, amongst all the backlash aimed at the midseason update, it seems that not all of the weapon changes have been well received.

Warzone players have taken issue with the dev’s decision to nerf the most popular Sniper Rifle in the game – the KATT-AMR.

The KATT has been the go-to sniper for many players since Urzisktan launched, mostly because it’s the only gun in its class capable of one-shotting a player without equipping a special ammo type. But Season 1 Reloaded reduced the range and bullet velocity of the ZANG-34 Barrel used in the meta build.

Reddit user ‘fulltimenoob’ was quick to call out the nerf in a post, where they said: “So WSP Swarm and Interceptor are left as is. But the KATT gets two nerfs to velocity and dmg range. Thought most agreed sniping was in a good spot too.”

Plenty of other players responded calling out the devs, arguing that Warzone‘s Sniper Rifle category should be buffed instead of nerfed.

“To be clear in the grand scheme I don’t even think the nerf is unwarranted per se, it’s just that there’s 1/11 viable snipers atm and rather than touch the others you nerf the only usable one,” said one reply. “Look if you want sniping out of the game just remove the weapons altogether so we don’t waste our time.”

Some even threatened to “uninstall the game,” as they were worried that sniping might no longer be a feasible playstyle in Warzone if this trend continues.

“They seem more interested in turning this game into a point blank to 20m fight game, because they’re hellbent on making snipers irrelevant,” argued another angry player.

Only time will tell if this slight nerf to the KATT-AMR will see it lose its place as a meta weapon in Warzone. Either way, it seems that players would like to see more Sniper Rifles receive buffs in future updates.
