The Haunting update for Warzone has brought the spirit of Halloween to the game, but players are furious as they feel the jump scare volume is over the top and “stupid.”

Warzone players have been treated to their final update before Modern Warfare 3 hits the stores. The update comes alongside The Haunting event, which brings the Halloween season to the game through spooky Operators, the Soul Capture event, and night versions of the maps.

While some Modern Warfare 2 players are less than satisfied regarding the Halloween content for multiplayer, battle royale players are equally frustrated with the event’s jump scares.

Despite some players loving the addition of jump scares, adding a trick-or-treat aspect to looting in the battle royale, many are furious with the volume of the jump scares, claiming they’re loud enough to “deafen people.”

Under a Reddit post showing off the jump scares in the event, one player commented, “unnecessary how loud this is,” while another user agreed, “It’s f**king annoying that’s what, I play with a headset and have to set the volume to like 2% and it’s still on the loud side.

They explained that “it actually hurts my ears if I set the volume to something that makes me able to hear stuff around me. I might as well play muted at this point.”

The OP suggested that players struggling with the jump scare noise should “turn down the effects volume,” but a user quickly replied that it’s “not worth losing the sound of enemy footsteps.”

While many are frustrated with the sheer volume of the jump scares, Raven Software have already released an update to reduce the “frequency,” so you may find less of them. That said, the issue is still with the volume, as under Raven’s X post regarding this change, WZRanked commented, “Thanks, it’d also be great to lower the volume by at least 50%.”

That said, there is actually a way to turn jump scares off in the settings, although it is slightly confusing, as it only seems to work on the jump scares in the Battle Pass and in the menus, not actually with the in-game looting.

if player complaints persist, we expect the devs to offer some changes to the volume or a setting that gets rid of the in-game scares. We’ll keep you updated, but until then, make sure you check out everything we know about the Modern Warfare 3 Perks coming to Warzone.
