The Warzone Urzikstan update brought every weapon from Modern Warafre 3 into the battle royale, drastically shaking up the meta. But CoD expert TrueGameData has revealed that it’s actually a surprising SMG from MW2 that’s taking over close-range gunfights.

After months of build-up, Warzone Season 1 is finally live and players are coming to terms with the new Urzikstan map. The update also marked the game’s integration with Modern Warfare 3, bringing a host of movement changes and the full lineup of new weapons.

This means that meta picks from MW3 multiplayer are now available in the battle royale, such as the MCW Assault Rifle and KATT-AMR Sniper Rifle. But when it comes to the close-range meta, Warzone expert TrueGameData believes that it’s a familiar face from Modern Warfare 2 that comes out on top.

In his December 10 video, TGD explained that the Fennec 45 has the fastest TTK of any Warzone SMG. He compared the gun to a number of meta options, including the WSP Swarm, but the MW2 SMG came out on top at the most important ranges.

The Fennec 45 had a “crazy” TTK of just over 550ms, ranking it well ahead of the Swarm, ISO 9mm, and WSP-9 at short distances. It also killed in just 600ms at 12 meters, giving it a longer drop-off compared to its other rivals.

Although other options were more useful in mid-range engagements after the initial damage dropoff, TrueGameData felt the Fennec was still the “best SMG” in the game, especially if you’re consistently landing chest shots.

TrueGameData’s best Fennec 45 loadout for Warzone Urzikstan

Check out TrueGameData’s best Fennec 45 loadout for Warzone Season 1 below:

  • Muzzle: Sonic Suppressor S
  • Optic: Mk. 3 Reflector
  • Underbarrel: DR-6 Handstop
  • Magazine: Fennec Mag 45
  • Ammunition: .45 Auto High Grain Rounds

This best Fennec 45 loadout in Warzone focuses on buffing its damage range to make it more competitive past the 12-meter mark. It also keeps a lot of its recoil in check, ensuring players can land their shots and maximize the TTK.

The Fennec 45 dominated Warzone back when Al Mazrah first launched, so don’t be surprised to see it become a popular pick on Urzikstan too once the meta really starts to take shape.
