Treyarch confirm Modern Warfare 3 Zombies will feature classic Easter eggs

While the Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode is not the traditional Zombies experience that CoD fans have come to expect over the years, Treyarch confirmed that classic Easter egg quests will eventually arrive to bring a dose of nostalgia.

While Sledgehammer Games are the lead studio in charge of Modern Warfare 3 development, the upcoming CoD title is a collaborative effort with several studios including the fan-favorite Treyarch.

Treyarch is leading the development of the first-ever Zombies mode within the Modern Warfare series. Thanks to the MW3 Zombies reveal at CoD Next, we know that this Zombies mode is not the traditional experience that long-time fans will be familiar with.

Instead, Modern Warfare 3 Zombies will feel like a fusion of DMZ and Outbreak. Despite this new direction for the Zombies mode, Treyarch confirmed that Zombies veterans can expect classic Easter eggs quests to arrive post-launch.

Thanks to the CoD Next event that took place on October 5, we know that MW3 Zombies will feature story missions at launch. These story missions will guide players through cinematic acts of the Zombies plot in MW3.

However, Treyarch also have post-launch content planned for Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. Treyarch teased that this will include classic hidden quests and Easter eggs.

Modern Warfare Zombies at launch will not feature an easter egg quest. There is only a main story quest – with 3 acts to complete to unlock narrative cinematics that connect Dark Aether story. Easter Egg quests and additional quests to come post launch.

While the Zombies format is receiving a major shake-up in Modern Warfare 3, long-time fans can rest assured that some classic Easter egg quests will arrive later on. These Easter eggs might include callbacks to certain aspects from past iterations of the beloved Zombies mode.

At the moment there’s no telling when these post-launch additions will arrive, but it seems that the devs plan to sustain the MW3 Zombies experience with more content as seasonal updates make their way to the game.
