The popular CoD Zombies game mode is coming to the Modern Warfare series for the first time in the franchise’s history. Here’s what you need to know about the new combination in Modern Warfare 3.

Following Modern Warfare 3’s major reveal event in Warzone, the devs have started to peel back the curtain over the upcoming CoD title. As most already know, Modern Warfare 3 will act as a direct sequel to 2022’s Modern Warfare 2. Luckily, MW3 will bring plenty of new content to the table to liven up the Modern Warfare series.

While Sledgehammer Games are the lead developer studio at the helm of Modern Warfare 3, the game is shaping up as a collaborative effort between several Call of Duty studios like Beenox and Raven. In addition, fan-favorite studio Treyarch are also lending a hand in the development of Modern Warfare 3.

Treyarch are well known for their work on the Black Ops series, including the classic Zombies mode. Naturally, fans have started to wonder if any Treyarch staples would make their way to Modern Warfare 3.

It seems the answer to that question is a resounding yes, as a teaser revealed that Modern Warfare 3 will feature a Zombies mode.

MW3’s marketing campaign has featured an anonymous phone number that is providing intel about the new title based on the messages it receives. Players who text the word “zombies” will receive an audio message with the iconic screams of Call of Duty zombies.

This will be a first for the CoD franchise, given that Modern Warfare 3 will be the first game from the Modern Warfare series to feature Zombies.

While it hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s likely that Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch worked together to handle the integration of Zombies into the Modern Warfare world, as suggested by industry insider Tom Henderson.

We’ll keep you up to date with all of the latest Modern Warfare 3 Zombies news. In the meantime, check out how Modern Warfare 3 is bringing back the classic red dot minimap, or find out if weapons and Operators will transfer over from MW2 to MW3.
