Secret Warzone buff turns worst weapon into “broken” one-shot Sniper

A secret buff to a forgotten MW2 weapon in Warzone has made it a guaranteed one-shot kill, no matter where you hit the enemy, making it one of the most unlikely meta weapons in the game.

TTK is king in Warzone, which is why players are always on the hunt for weapons that kill as quickly as possible. There are a handful of guns that can one-shot kill, but these tend to be the game’s most powerful Sniper Rifles.

The Season 4 update introduced the iconic Kar98k Marksman Rifle, which also has one-shot potential, but a secret buff also allowed an unlikely weapon to join the exclusive one-shot club. Since the patch went live, the Crossbow can actually kill an enemy with a single bolt.

Since arriving back in MW2, the Crossbow has been mostly forgotten about by most players. While it can be a relatively fun pick in multiplayer, its low damage and slow fire rate made it difficult to use in Battle Royale.

However, in Season 4, it can one-shot players as long as you’re using the Blascap 20″ Bolts, which explode on impact. Using explosive ammo is pretty common for unlocking a gun’s one-shot capabilities, but most still usually require an upper body or headshot to achieve a one-hit kill.

The key difference here, though, is that Crossbow will down an enemy with one bolt, no matter where it lands. So, although it can still only fire once every second, every hit is a guaranteed down.

Warzone expert WhosImmortal highlighted this in his June 4 video, where he called the Crossbow absolutely “broken” after this secret buff that wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes.

The explosive bolts have already been removed from Ranked Play, so the YouTuber is expecting a nerf in a future update.

“It’s likely going to see some kind of adjustment where you either have to hit upper body shots or the explosive ammo can’t one-shot,” he explained. “As it stands, this thing is technically the best Sniper in the game which is pretty crazy.”

Only time will tell if the devs decide to make a change in an upcoming patch, but there’s no doubt that this secret buff has provided a meta shakeup that no one saw coming. So, if you’re looking for an alternative to the Kar98k or KATT-AMR, the Crossbow could be the pick for you.
