While Call of Duty’s battle royale has developed its own esports scene, Warzone 2’s DMZ mode will be in the spotlight with the DMZ Gauntlet tournament. Here’s everything we know about the DMZ tournament so far, including the schedule, format, and prize pool.

As Warzone 2 players wait for Private Matches to arrive, most of the competitive scene, such as the $100k OpTic Texas tournament, takes place in the 2v2 kill race format. However, Activision are doing something completely different by taking putting on a DMZ tournament.

DMZ is Warzone 2’s extraction-based sandbox mode, where players are given free rein of Al Mazrah to battle other players and AI, complete missions, gather high-value weapons and loot, and successfully exfil to keep their gear.

Activision have announced the DMZ Gauntlet tournament is coming in January, so here’s everything we know so far.

Warzone 2 DMZ Gauntlet schedule

Warzone 2’s DMZ Gauntlet tournament will kick off on Tuesday, January 17 at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET / 8 PM GMT.

While there’s no confirmed place to watch the tournament, we would expect the stream to take place on Call of Duty’s Twitch channel but we’ll let you know once more is revealed. Plus, the competitors will likely be streaming their gameplay too.

Warzone 2 DMZ Gauntlet format

Not much is known about the DMZ Gauntlet’s format yet, but Activision confirmed that 16 Trios will be completing a “variety of challenges in DMZ.”

It sounds like the format will be less focused on killing other players, but we’ll have to wait for more information to know what’s in store for the competitors.

After Activision asked for suggestions on who to invite, a ton of big names in the CoD scene put their name in the hat, ranging from top Warzone 2 players such as Aydan and Jukeyz to DMZ-focused creators such as Westie, MrDalekJD, and GeekyPastimes.

Pro player Tommey said that DMZ streamers should be captains, as “it’s their mode and they deserve to represent in a great tournament.”

Warzone 2 DMZ Gauntlet prize pool

Warzone 2’s DMZ Gauntlet will have a $30,000 pool, but they haven’t confirmed how the prizing will be split amongst the 16 Trios taking part yet.
