Warzone 2 players are hopping to check out Ranked Play after it finally arrived in the Season 3 Reloaded update, and the developers have now disabled the popular Proximity Chat feature in this mode.

Season 3 Reloaded brought a ton of new content to Warzone 2 that players are eagerly exploring, including new weapons like the GS Magna and FTAC Siege as well as the arrival of the long-awaited Ranked Play.

The new game mode comes with its own set of rules and restrictions with the developers removing certain gameplay elements. Now, they’ve disabled a popular Warzone 2 feature in the Call of Duty title’s Ranked Play mode.

Where is Proximity Chat in Warzone 2 Ranked Play?

On May 23, Raven Software announced that they had disabled Proximity Voice Chat along with Global Text Chat in Warzone 2 Ranked Play. This decision was made after consideration with their partners at Treyarch.

Two hours later, the developers dropped another tweet announcing that Proximity Chat would remain enabled in Warzone 2’s Ranked Play until they finish investigating an issue that had been discovered in the game.

Warzone 2 shook up the established Call of Duty Battle Royale formula by bringing new innovations and changes, with Proximity Chat being among them. It’s different from the main voice chat as it allows you to hear the mic chatter of all nearby players when enabled.

This ended up proving to be an extremely popular addition in Warzone 2. However, since other players can also hear you speaking on the mic when Proximity Chat is enabled, it can easily give away your position.

Disabling Proximity Chat in Warzone 2’s Ranked Play ensures that players will no longer be hearing random people all over the map while playing. It remains to be seen what other changes the developers will implement in Warzone 2’s Ranked Play.
