Do you need PlayStation Plus to play Warzone?

For those on either PS4 or PS5, the good news is that you do not need a PS Plus membership in order to enjoy free-to-play games like Warzone Pacific.

This means you are able to also play the game with friends, in a party chat, without subscribing to PS Plus.
PS Plus costs £50/$60 for a year’s subscription, which is required if you want to play multiplayer in games like Black Ops Cold War or Vanguard. But, if Warzone is the only game you’re interested in, you can save yourself some money.
Do you need Xbox Live Gold to play Warzone?

Usually, you do not need Xbox Live Gold to play Warzone, but there’s currently a bug in Warzone Pacific where you need to have Xbox Live Gold to play.
Warzone’s developers Raven Software are aware of the issue and have listed it on their Trello board as under investigation. The majority of the dev team are on their holiday break, so we expect this issue to be fixed in the New Year.

So, much like PlayStation’s system, Xbox users should soon be able to enjoy Warzone for free without paying for an online membership.
Before April 2021, Xbox players would have had to pay for Xbox Live to play any game on their system. Fortunately, Microsoft listened to the fans and followed in the footsteps of PlayStation, allowing players to enjoy free-to-play games without getting roped into a subscription.
