Modern Warfare 2 players have been hit by the Travis-Rilea error which prevents them from playing, so here are a few workarounds to fix the error.

There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to log in to Modern Warfare 2, only to be met with an error code such as ‘no supported dxgi adapter‘ or ‘Purchase Modern Warfare 2.’

When booting up Modern Warfare 2, some players have been met with a ‘Connection Failed’ message which read: “Timed out while signing into online platform [Reason: TRAVIS – RILEA].”

The Travis-Rilea error is connection-based, meaning it’s either a server problem or an issue with your internet. If it’s on your end, here are a few workarounds.

How to fix Travis-Rilea error in Modern Warfare 2

Here are a few things you can try to get around the Travis-Rilea error in Modern Warfare 2 and get back into playing multiplayer:

Check Modern Warfare 2’s server status

The first thing you should do when encountering Modern Warfare 2’s Travis-Rilea error is check the server status of both Modern Warfare 2 and your platform.

The Travis-Rilea could be an issue with Xbox, PlayStation, Battle.net, or Steam servers, or it could be Call of Duty itself. You can check Modern Warfare 2’s server status through our guide.

Restart your console or PC

If everything seems okay with Modern Warfare 2 or your platform’s servers, the next step is to restart your console or PC.

This could solve a wide variety of issues, and hopefully the one that’s causing the Travis-Rilea error.

Restart your router

Restarting your router will also make sure everything’s okay with your internet connection, so simply unplug your router for around 20 seconds, then plug it back in. Hopefully, this will solve the Travis-Rilea error.

Change connection type

Changing your connection type from wired to wireless (or vice versa) might provide a temporary fix to Modern Warfare 2’s Travis-Rilea error. We would recommend having a wired connection if possible, so it’s well worth a try if you’re unable to play because of Travis-Rilea.
