Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 is in full swing, keeping players busy with a new Battle Pass to grind through, new weapons to master, and the highly competitive Ranked Play mode to climb.
However, server issues can prevent players from experiencing the new features and ranking up the best weapons. Few things are as frustrating when attempting to enjoy your favorite maps and modes.
Here’s the current server status in Modern Warfare 2, as well as how to check if the servers are down.
Are Modern Warfare 2 servers down?
On June 21, 2023, the Modern Warfare 2 devs confirmed that the servers are down as some players are unable to log in to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
The announcement arrived via the newly introduced CODUpdates Twitter account. While some players may be unable to access Modern Warfare 2, the good news is that the devs are aware: “We’re investigating an issue where some Players are unable to log in to Warzone and Modern Warfare II.”

How to check Modern Warfare 2 server status
ActivisionThere are a couple of essential social media accounts that you’ll want to follow when it comes to keeping track of Modern Warfare 2’s server status.
If a server issue arises, you can head to either the Activision Support Twitter page or the Infinity Ward Twitter page. Developers Infinity Ward will lead communication for Modern Warfare 2, so they’d certainly update players if and when servers are down. The aforementioned CODUpdates Twitter account is also a great resource to use.
Players can also head to the official Activision website to discover any prevailing server issues. Activision constantly update players when it comes to network problems and server issues for all of their titles, including Modern Warfare 2.
However, the issue could also come through the Xbox or PlayStation servers, so be sure to check there as well.
